On the episode of Monster Nation on right now they are going to feature a backyard coaster.

It's the blue, steel one that goes upside-down.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

next replay for those who want to know .... Discovery Channel on Feb 14th at 5 PM. this was kind cool .. the one person coaster had the following layout from my memory: the lift went up over triagular shaped shed, first drop to a corkscrew and then a tiny hill crossing the track followed by a turn to go under the hill and then it looked to be stopped by the track lowering into the grass. very nice. the owner is working or a bigger coaster that will allow 4 riders.

Watch the tram car please....

This thing has been around for, like four years, and people are still just now hearing about it...

Well, I suppose anyone getting into coasters recently would just be hearing about it for perhaps the first time.

But you've been into coasters longer than these guys and knew about it before they did, so you're clearly the 'better' enthusiast - you win this thread.

And besides, no one ever said "Wow, I never saw this wacky thing before" - they were just discussing the fact that if you're interested, you can catch it on TV.

From now on, we'll all try to make sure no one discusses anything you already know.

Did anyone catch the part about Zorbing. Now that looks hella fun. When I was in New Zealand I unfortunately didn't have the time to try it. Now I wish I did.

Thank you Lord Gonchar.

Perhaps I should have said that the Producers from the Discovery Channel are slow ;)

Yeah Incidentalist that Zorb part looked wild! I'd like to try it. It mentioned they are hoping to open other ones around the world so hopefully we will get one in the South.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

The Zorb is a giant inflatable ball with a chamber inside it. They use a conveyor belt and take it up a hill. once it is up at the top they add a little water to the inner chamber for lubrication and let someone climb in the chamber. Then they zip the chamber closed and let it roll down a trench in the hill and the person inside can either try to stay standing or fall over and roll around in the chamber as it rolls down the winding trench. www.zorb.com for those who want more info

BTW If anyone saw Peter Gabirel's live tour for the Up album during the song Growing Up he climbed in one of these and bounced and rolled it all over the stage. Pretty cool toy if you had one. *** Edited 1/26/2005 1:18:10 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***
