How much would it cost ??

I was wandering how much would it cost to start a park from scratch? would you need several investers? Could you do it with used equip. like rollercoasters, etc? jus kinda of curious about this. does any one have a coaster in there back yard ??? jay

Yea it's a TON to open an amusement park.

I have a coaster in my backyard I was working on last summer. It wasn't that hard to make but took a lot of time and money.

How much would a small, not theme park or large amusement park cost? Like a park with 20 rides and maybe a smaalm coaster or 2?

Jacob, it depends on the location, what kind of coasters, what kind of rides, how much power costs are, all that, it really can change.

I don't know, I'd say a park with 20 rides and a coaster or 2 would be 15-20 million, just a guess.

^ I'd have to agree with Peabody. Besides, on top of how much it would take to BUILD the park (and building costs can be as much if not more than material cost), you need to pay plenty of employees to run your park, which would costs thousands/day.

I built a park for around $100. I don't have a roller coaster which is why it was so cheap. ;)

Umm...(This would make a great school project) This is how I would do it. First, visit one of the many websites that have rides for sale, new and used, and add up all of the prices of the rides you want to buy. Second, look on the web for land for sale in an area you would want to build to find a price, and add that to your total. Third, figure out what kind of buildings you need for food, games, offices, restrooms, ect and if needed call an architect, or just buy the building pre-assembled. Next, times your total by 2 or 3 in order for construction costs, landscaping, zoning permits, taxes, all of those little extras.

OR...You could just ask your question to a bunch of mean people on a message board ;)

I would guess it would cost anywhere between 1 million and 2 billion to build a park from scratch, depending on what kind of park you wanted to build and where you would build it.

If I remember correctly Jazzland originally was going to cost $79 million but actually ended up costing much more, I've heard over $100 million. Of course we all know how that went. Six Flags picked it up for about $38 million.

Unless your rides are just going to hover in the air, you're going to have to start by buying some land. There's a couple of mil right there.
