Jaguar! Why so much?

I was looking at Knott's on RCDB and it has Jaguar! listed as $20mill. Now, TTD Cost $25mill. Xcelorator was around $13, and Silver Bullet was $16.

Why did Jaguar! cost only $5mill less than Dragster? Is the price listed correct, or is there something I'm just not seeing here?

Maybe the design and theme of the station jacked the price up. The Mayan Pyramid that the queue winds through always seems very elaborate to me for a ride of Jaguar's type.

I'd venture it's a mistake.

Could possibly be a mistake, but it's no doubt they there was A LOT of money spent on the theming of the ride, I remember being amazing walking through the queue line for it, I couldn't believe that this was a Tivoli coaster and it had such elaborate theming. I think there's a chance that when you add in all the costs with theming that it actually could be that much money.

Its also a really LONG coaster. IIRC its the longest coaster in the park, even beating Silver Bullet.

Ghostrider is considerably longer than Jaguar!, 4,533' for GR and 2,602' for Jag. Silver Bullet is in between the two at 3,125'.

Jag is only 2,600 feet? That's the length of Raven. I find that hard to believe. None-the-less, you're right...Ghostrider is longer.

It probably just seems longer because you are traveling at a considerably slower speed.

Plus there is the psychological effect of two lift hills. (makes it feel longer)

I just think that it takes 2 or 3 hills on Jaguar! to equal the length of one on Ghostrider. This would make Jaguar! seem a lot longer than Ghostrider. On that same note, Millenium Force's first and second hills alone are probably longer than Janguar!.

If you think Jaguar was expensive, check out the pricetag on some Disney rides! I think the ToT rides are up around 80-100 million largely depending on country of install, and the new Everest is widely believed to be the most expensive ride they've ever built, I hear numbers in the 80-120 million range!

That's 4 TTD's with a good sized B&M on top!

You also have to take into account what construction costs are out here on the left coast. Permits, labor,materials, all much higher than most other metropolitan areas.

The reported price of a coaster is heavily dependant on what your include such as:

1) The coaster
2) The station
3) Themeing
4) Landscaping
5) New restroom nearby
6) The land under the coaster
7) Paving and roadways in the area
8) Allocation of managerial costs to construction
9) Publicity
10) Whatever the PR people want to add to make the number look really impressive.

Then there's always the possibility that everything you read on the Internet might not be true.

Just so you know, Popeyes chicken is so much better than KFC (not to say that KFC is bad... they're still pretty good). Thanks for the laugh though.

Maybe it's slipped in quality since it was first built, but from my experiences of Jaguar, I see no way $20 million in any way could have been spent on such a small ride. I remember the theming as being nothing too noteworthy - certainly not $20 million noteworthy.

I'd put my money on it being perhaps the sum total of investment into the park for that year or something along those lines.
