Is it true that the ride isn't exactly 90 degrees up and down because that would be impossible?

Nope. 90 degrees both up and down according to the S&S specs.

Why wouldn't 90 degrees be possible? Gravity doesn't go away if a track angle is 90 degrees.

I guess that the reason many "vertical drops" like Ultra Twister or Oblivion aren't 90 degrees is because the designer still wanted the weight on the top running wheels, which are much larger on coasters like B&Ms. The top, side, and under tires on Hypersonic are all the same.

Well I was just wondering I heard someone say that I just wanted to check and see if it was true.

Isn't Oblivion something like 89.5 degrees? I know it's not a true vertical.

The new Vekoma cliffhanger drops you at 90 degrees(I think). So it is possible.

Oblivion is, like Everdred said, 87.5 degrees.

I had a dream last night/this morning that I was at PKD, and I rode HypersonicXLC twice. The lay out had two extra "bumps," but it was basicly the same.

Oblivion is 87.5, X will be 89, and Hypersonic is indeed 90.
