Great Adventure Fright Fest Fridays

Ok, I will phrase my question just right, so I don't get the "I shall look in my crystal ball..." comment. Ok, for those who have gone to Fright Fest at Great Adventure on Fridays, how are the crowds? What are the average wait times, and I know that even though it may have been one thing before, it might not be the same thing again, but I would just like to know how the crowds were, as far as size and wait times, thank you, and hoped I phrased my question right...

Although i have not been there...I find that anywhere ive went fridays are generally less crowded than saturdays..I really don't know why because it is a weekend still but, i would reccomend a friday over a saturday.

It was quite busy last Friday night. Nitro had a full queue with 2 trains running. Friday nights also seem to get busier closer to Halloween so I would expect this Friday to be the busiest.

Any day during Fright Fest, especially after dinner, is ridiculously crowded.

Sat. 10/16 was so crowded I turned around and left. Went the next day around 5:00pm wasn't as bad. Sunday will be the better choice.

Last Sat. was ridiculous. I left after dinner and got to the park around 7p. The line of cars to get into the parking lot was backed up about a mile onto the highway. It took me more time to get from the exit to the park (45 minutes) than it normally take me to get from home to the park (30 minutes).

I didn't park in the main lot, I didn't park in the overflow, I didn't park in the HH lot, but I parked in the grass overflow for the HH lot.

At the end of the night, it took me another hr. just to get out of the parking lot.

So yeah, it was crowded.

Well, I do thank all of you guys for your responses, I went to Great Adventure on the 29th, and it was a blast. Too bad the park had so little hours, and I didn't manage to do any of the special Halloween activities they planned, for the lines were too long, except for Terror Trails. And the lines for Nitro were horrendous, I've never seen the line for Nitro that long, it extended WAY beyond the Nitro sign. And Superman and Batman were crowded, as usual, so was the Chiller, nice to see that Batman was working as well as Robin, for a while I thought they closed Robin, but then later on in the day Robin and Batman were running, they should run em at the same time though. Anyways, got my '05 Season Pass and cannot wait to go back next year, for Kingda Ka, and also got a free usage for the Q-Bot for next year, due to the Q-Bot screwing up our ride systems...Hopefully I can make it to next years Fright Fest and do the Halloween activities. Sorry, sounds more like a trip report, but I'd figured I'd keep everything in one forum, thanks...

If anyone is planning on going to Great Adventure for Fright Fest, go on a Sunday. Make sure to be there at open, and get a Q-Bot. That is the only possible way you'll be able to do anything.

I know today was a new record for me.

By 7pm, GASM (yes, GASM) was an hr. wait. I could barely walk around in the park. A total waste of time, and unfortunately, my youth group paid to get in. We did manage to get on Nitro in an hr. when we arrived at the park around 2pm.

I went on Friday the 15th and the crowds were too big to be enjoyable. Now they've added another hayride and kept the staffing at the same level. They have managed to take one mediocre attraction and turn it into two very poor attractions. There was a total of two, yes two "monsters" through the entire ride.

My advice to anyone thinking about going to Great Adventure's FrightFest is not to go. The theming and actors are not scary and the lines are way too long to be enjoyable. Make better use of your time and take the longer ride to one of two much better and much less crowded events:Lake Compounce or Kennywood.

Personally, I find the time on the road much better than spending it in line for coasters which are in my backyard that I can ride anytime during the year with very little wait if you pick and choose your times correctly. Not only that, but LC and KW know how to do a Halloween event correctly. Well worth the drive. I have given up on FrightFest after this year, and will be a regular visitor to LC, KW, and of course PPP.

Kennywood had it's share of crowds this season too. In fact last Saturday the crowds were so bad that some of the haunted attractions had a 1 1/2 hr. wait +. But the weekend that just passed wasn't so bad. We had a good size but weren't busy.

Yes, but the difference is that Kennywood's attractions are actually worth the wait. The other thing I found at Kennywood on the night that I went, was that most of the heavy lines were for the Halloween things and most of the coasters were walk-ons or had a minimal wait.

Two Fridays ago, I went and (as I said in another post), the crowds were insane. I've never seen the queue line for Nitro be out to the gates like it was...me and my friends walked over, saw the line, immediately said "no way" and trie to go somewhere else. Oh well, I'll get to ride Nitro more next year...when the crowds are headed over to Kingda Ka, leaving less of a line to ride Nitro!

We went again this past Friday night and the crowds were even worse than the previous Friday. Based on our October visits this year, it seemd to be the most crowded Fright Fest ever.
