New CoasterDynamics model - Scorpion

Didn't see this already posted, but it looks like CoasterDynamics has finally put on sale their smaller more affordable coaster model - Scorpion:

At PPP they had a model made by GCI's Chris Gray. It was a Dragon plus expansion pack and was WAY cool! And it was conveniently placed next to the S&D booth so we could point to it and say "You can win one of those!"

I'm definitely playing Santa to myself and buying a Dragon and expansion pack before the end of the year ;)

Ohhhh-I think the trains look SO much better on the Scorpion. At half the cost, I might actually be able to afford one of these now!

I'll second Good ol' 'Moosh on that one. This isn't cheap stuff- this is the stuff hardcore model builders (Brad Sherman and friends) snatch up.

If you're looking for just a toy, get a K'nex set. If you're looking for high-quality model-type stuff... you've found it.

At PPP the coaster wasn't running up to par. The slight breeze, unlevel table, and putting it back together made it not run the entire course. Chris had to dismantle some parts to get it out of his house, drive it to the park in the back of a truck and set it back up. I have seen that same layout run hours on end with no stopping at his house.

Although this is a working model and the price is a little more than most people will pay it just does things a Knex model will never do. The price may seem a bit high untill you actually see one in person running. It's amazing how much detail the trains have. I'd say this is the closest thing anyone will ever get to owning their own B&M invert unless you own a park.

LOL Dan...how I wish I could win it myself, but that wouldn't be fair. I'll buy one for sure ;)

Just realize that while it took 3 Dragon kits to recreate CP's giant green bird of prey, it will take twice as many Scorpions! I don't even want to know what IOA's Dragons will require. 8O

Jeff, do you really? Was that some sort of kickback because so many people who bought one mentioned that they heard about it from here? If so, good for you!! We'd better be seeing some kickass photos of what you're doing with those soon.

BTW, I mentioned that when I bought mine I heard about it from here, how 'bout a little sumpin' sumpin'?
