SFA Indoor Hyper revealed! (I hope)

Well it been bugging me for some time listening to people arguing about what it could be with those dimentions, when it has been so oudvious this whole time! It has rumored to be U shaped, and what is the only u-shaped coaster? its not SUE. Its in a 60' x 30' x 200' building, and what is the only practical coaster to fit there? Also this park has good relations with vecoma, so you peice it all together to get......

I'd like to see why that wouldn't work :).

Could somebody please explain the Hammerhead Stall to me? I keep hearing about it but I don't know what it is.

Picture a giant letter "U". Way more like a regular capital U than say, an Intamin Impulse coaster.
The trains are themed like trains, and are 2 or 3 cars which sit 2 or 3 4-abreast rows per car. Every time the train reaches it's peak the cars rotate so you do the descent face down.

I think the Vekoma website has computer generated video and pictures.

I think Peabody meant that the trains are themed like "planes"...Kinda cool idea...check out the Vekoma site for an animation (see the links area in this site)

Foozy, did you say "in" the building? The dimensions seem odd. Perhaps half will be inside? Perhaps it is some type of themed freefall?

A hammerhead stall I believe is an actual maneuver that can be done in a few of the best fighter jets. This ride will mimic the maneuver and sensation. I am also intrigued about the indoor part of this though. The themeing wouldn't really matter much (plane trains) if nobody can see them. Maybe they don't want anyone to know what they are building. Is it a permanent building or was it put up quickly?

As far as aircraft go, a Hammerhead Stall is not something that you want to do unless you're in an airshow. It basically consists of doing a full throttle ascent straight up until you stall. Due to gravity, the aircraft's nose then points straight down. The idea is to then gain enough airspeed then pull level to the horizon. It's generally not a good idea to do it in any modern jet aircraft. Anyway, as far as the coaster version goes, I think it would be cool but I don't like the little airplane trains shown on the site. Just my two cents.

Just to clarify my post. I realize the severity of the hammerhead stall with real planes. But I believe that the MiG 29 is able to perform such a move. And of course air shows are the proper place for such things, especially with highly maneuverable prop planes. I also did not like the look of the plane trains. Ugly IMO

Actually I think these are produced by Vekoma, and my thoughts of this are they have enough Vekoma produced coasters, and they should experience others, like B&M, Arrow, Intamin, etc.

Actually, in the aerobatic "HammerHead Stall", the plane does not ever 'stall'. You dont need a very sophisticated plane either. This was a very common manuver in the World War two flying ace dogfight days; along with the Immelman and split-s (think Immelman in reverse)

Coucgh Cough. Hammerhead Stall is a Stall dude. I have seen it done thousands of times and no, it cant be done with a common plane so you people out there dont go rent a Cessna or Piper and Try this. Besides do you know how powerful a p-51 engine is. The later models could keep up with the ME-262 (First Jets Planes) and could even out run the early American Banshee Jet Planes. Actually a hammerhead stall is useless as a combat maneuver because the plane has near 0 velocity and little control at the top of the maneuver. Kind of makes it a stationary target. I have seen it done many times however by aerobatic competition planes practicing at the local airfield.

As for a Vekoma Hammerhead Stall, one tower would fit inside that building, but not both. Coaster wise about the only thing that would fit inside would be an overgrown Toboggan. 30' X 60' is too small for even a mouse.

The vertical part of the Batman side of Batman & Robbin, The Chiller would probably fit inside. The other possibility would be dome sort of themed indoor drop tower similar to Tower of Terror. Of course, it could be something we haven't thought of at all.
