Man skips juror duty to go to CP may get jail time

Read this a couple of days ago, is CP worth doing time over?

So what does happen if you're fired from your job because you're on jury duty? Does the government have to get you your job back or are you s.o.l.? I assume the latter ...

An employer cannot fire an employee for having to attend Jury Duty. It is against the Law.

Yeah, somehow I just don't think that a trip to Cedar Point is worth going to jail.

The man had a chance to tell them he had other plans and such and he didn't. I think the "punishment" he received is pretty cool though. Except I would have given him 3 weeks instead of two. The origonal case was two weeks long so I would have given him an extra week to "think about what he did". :)

I wouldn't do that. The judge could have been more harsh with him than what he did. CP or any amusement park is not worth jail time. And, JamesK is correct, you cannot be fired from a job due to jury duty. If this was the case, everyone would be trying to get out of it.

He is lucky. The Judge really could have came down hard on him. Shame on CP if he really did try to get a refund or rebook his trip and they would not do it. If it's true, that makes them just as bad as this guy was. Why didn't he just speek up in the beginning?

True, James and DF, his employers can't fire him for having jury duty, but the impression I got from the last paragraph was that he mislead his employers (which I WOULD fire someone for), since they seemed to think he was still on jury duty when sheriff's deputies went looking for him.

The juge should have gave him some HARD TIME 10 days on Mean Streak!
