What I don't get is, why wouldn't they use a normal over the top support for that section, this seems to be a lot less supportive, if you look at it closely, but then again, I'm an idiot...

As for that support, I have a hard time understanding how it's supporting anything from that angle, but I'm sure B&M knows what they're doing. :)

To keep this relatively on topic, I think I remember seeing a picture of another support on Great Bear that was just as weird as the one posted above, but shaped differently.
