Odd Supports...

I've Seen some very odd supports on Rollercoaster pictures. Look at this picture from Great Bear @ Hershey Park and A pic from Silverstar @ Europe Park....

does look interesting though. I had seen that one on Gonch's site before (thats my fave site to look @ Besides this and RCDB when I'm on the net at 3:30 in the morning while I should be working...;)).

That's the first time I've seen the Great Bear photo. Very odd indeed. I agree though that it just tends to be an issue of working within the space you have.

Jeff, thats really the first time you saw that photo? I think the last 'odd support' topic started with the same photo.

What I don't get is, why wouldn't they use a normal over the top support for that section, this seems to be a lot less supportive, if you look at it closely, but then again, I'm an idiot...

The supports are like that on Great Bear because Hersheypark is not allowed to build anything in the water. I'm not sure when that ordinance went into effect.

Look at where the support in question connects to the track. It looks like Sooperdooperlooper's track and support would be in the way of a regular hanging support.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going legit with the hair. It's time for a change.

As for that support, I have a hard time understanding how it's supporting anything from that angle, but I'm sure B&M knows what they're doing. :)

To keep this relatively on topic, I think I remember seeing a picture of another support on Great Bear that was just as weird as the one posted above, but shaped differently.
