Roller coasters.. Escape from reality

I know we have heard this many times. Roller coasters are one of the only things in society where you can express your feelings whether it is fear, amazement, or fun. I just want to get some peoples opinions, Do you ride coasters for both fun, and for an escape from reality? My answer is yes, because I like to have fun and escape from the horror of reality.(I know this sounds dumb, but work with me here.)

Well, I'm 16 years old. The only time I ride coasters is during the summer. During that time, of course, I'm not in school. There's not a heavy amount of stress in summer, so I don't really need to escape reality then. ;)

This summer might be different, though, since I'll be getting a job. I can certainly see how adults would want to ride coasters to get away from the horrors of bills, jobs, and anything else that might come along.

I think its the reality of falling and flipping that is so fun. I think going to an amusement park isn't escaping reality but just getting away from the world where you have to do certain things you don't enjoy

Adrenaline Rush - pure and simple. I love the euphoria of getting off a great coaster and having gone that high, that speed, upside down that many times... I can't say if it is an escape or not, but it is an emotional outlet for adrenaline. I don't consciously ride because I'm angry and have to work it out or something, but who knows.

One reason: I'm afraid of heights! Strangly enough, I do what scares me. Well, there is accually more reasons than that, but that is the main one, the other is what we all love: Airtime!

Oh, they are an escape from reality all right. There not much to be thinking about when your about to be dropped down a 300 foot hill except WHOA.

I ride for tons of reasons also, there fun, give a rush, a challenge, escape, and they let you experience sensations that can be felt no where else. Coasters are the perfect from of entertainment.

Being afraid of heights is a VERY good reason for going on a coaster!
