Roller Coaster Disaster Movie On Now & Again Tomorrow

For those of you who can't sit through 'Rollercoaster', here's another gem - Thrill

If the first 15 minutes are any indication, it'll make Rollercoaster look like an Academy Award winner.

It's on the Lifetime Movie Network (enough said, right?) right now (11:30 pm to 1:15am) and again totmorrow morning at 11, so set that Tivo!

lol. Thrill does make Rollercoaster look good. At least Rollercoaster doesn't have that annoying "made for tv" atmosphere about it...

Thrill has alot of Big Dipper footage, however.

Oh my, this is exceptionally bad. Sadly not "good bad", just "bad bad".

The dubbed, german title is "Rollercoaster of death", but even this is misleading. :)

On another note: I think that the Big Dipper is one of the most used woodies in film history. I remember seeing it numerous times in many different films. Most notably in "the Sting 2".
Can anyone confirm this? Maybe it was the closest to Hollywood before Colossus got built?

Yeah, Thrill is a pretty bad movie. At least it also has the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Giant Dipper footage.

I have seen about 3/4 of the movie and the visuals are worth it alone.....meaning the coasters of course. Hee hee.

Wrong GD, John! "Lost Boys" featured the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper...all those others feature Belmont.

Speaking of REALLY BAD movies featuring coasters I seem to remember one in which the wooden coaster actually had speed settings. Anyone recall that? Was it "Death of Ocean View Park" ??

I (sadly) haven´t seen "Death of OVP", but your description reminds me of another cinematic masterpiece. I think its with Hulk Hogan (or someone else) and its called something with "Mega Mountain" (or something else) :)
Excuse this no-info but I just saw it once on german tv and couldn´t believe my eyes.
I think "Mega Mountain" is actually Elitch Gardens (or something else) and it features a control booth from where you could control the whole park. I think they sped up the coasters from there and made it stop in the apex of a loop. (Spectacular special effects included a sudden freeze-frame of the picture!)

Its overall cheeziness nearly managed to beat "Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park". Which is undoubtedly the ultimate theme-park movie EVER.

The Hogan movie is 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain

Kiss meets the Phantom is classic. It was made right when some of the guys were having their biggest problems. In several scenes Ace is played by an African-American man! I haven't seen that one for way too long - I need to buy it.

So they only used white makeup, Gonch? ;)

Check out the link Moosh, all those movies were definitely filmed at SCBB. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen the BP GD in any movie. Seems as though Hollywood understandably prefers a full scale seaside park, or the generic theme park look of SFMM.

Death of OVP is hard for me to watch for other reasons, such an amazing looking classic woodie blown to bits for a cheesy low budget crappy movie. Never rode the Rocket, but the layout looked incredible and packed with airtime, what a f'ing waste!

This movie actually wasn't to bad. I thought it'd be a waste of time but it was worth sitting down at watching I thought.

"Kiss meets the Phantom of the park", what a classic. I found it on VHS a few years ago in a Wal-mart bargain bin. I haven't noticed those scenes with Ace! Now I have to dig it out again. Yes, I'm going to subject myself to hearing Peter Criss sing "Beth" again!

Funny, how that girls name just happens to be Beth!

Agreed...some movies are so bad they come all the way around to good again. "From Justin To Kelly" was a recent one I discovered on HBO and found myself glued to because it was SO BLOODY AWFUL! lol ;)
