publicity, and visitors? I am from the Harrisburg area of PA, and within 2 and a half hours from my house there are 4 new coasters opening this year. 6Flags Gr8 adv's Nitro, Dorney's Talon, 6flags America's Batwing, and Kings Dominion's Hypersonic XLC. Thats the most that I can remember being added in one season around this part of the country. I am not forgetting about the rest of the country, but I am relying on everyone else from their part of the country to add to the list.

I think Hypersonic XLC will attract a good deal of attention, considering it is a completely new variety, but so will Six Flags: WOA because of the entire revamping of the area. Depends on if you're looking for local, national, or international interest, I think.

Attraction is regional. Any park building something new will see a boost in attendance, weather permitting.

The above posts are correct. I live in South Florida. While I can easily drive 3.5 hours to IOA and 5 to BGT, I have to fly everywhere else.
What are my planned trips this year?
Richmond - SFAm, PKD, BGW, and SFOG on the way home when stopping in Atlanta.
Los Angeles - SFMM, KBF, Vegas on the way back.
A maybe trip would be to Texas for Titan, but flying to SFMM gives me that ride with Goliath.
But they've got a strong 3rd, it's all about budgeted vacation money.
I've even delayed my West trip to after the summer because I know that X will be ready then, otherwise we'd fly out there now before school lets out.
Talk to you later.

For me, X, Nitro, Batwing, and the Phantom's Revenge will attract the most.

I think that SFMM's X will be really popular. But I also think that SFWOA's X-Flight and PKD's Hypersonic will be well recieved also. Of course Talon, Wildfire and Nitro will also be awesome coasters!

Like Jeff said, attraction will be regional. It does not matter if your park is getting X or is getting Cornball Express because both parks will advertise the heck out of their 'new rides'. Usually the insustry will be buzzing over the big and/or new (as in prototype) rides. X and Hypersonic should be getting the most publicity on that end of the spectrum. Anywho, as you can see, ytou can look at this from more then one angle.

My guess is X will get the most attention and here's why.
1)No one has ever seen or ridden anything like it.
2)Instead of opening in May with a bunch of other coasters, it will have the field to itself some time in July or August.
3)200ft, straight drop.
4)The return of Arrow
5)It's location (SFMM).
6)It will probably experience a lot of early problems, adding to the hype.

A little side note here. I wonder how many people will crash their car when they drive up into the Magic Mountain parking lot and see X. hehe :)

We in the industry are watching 'X' closely. If it works to the specs, it will bring a boom to Arrow for their 'Mouses' and 'Arrowbatics'. Not to mention a revival of some of their classic designs, since they have found better ways to do the installations.
A lot of people have ridden the 'Hypersonic' in Utah. S&S have already promised bigger and better things. If they can meet the construction demand, they will emerge as a total ride package company.
