I need some help with this, so I am coming to you guys. If you don't want to make the decision for me, just tell me some things you liked about the parks that would persuade me to go there. Thanks a lot.
+Danny, just kidding... sort of ;)

I think your MOM should take in both parks, and leave you sitting in the car with your sweaty face pressed against the unopened windows, watching the rides, but not hearing the sounds they make.
That was a really miserable thing to say about your mother.
Which ever one you choose I hope you have a great time and be nice to your mom. You'll thank her in the long run.

I'm not a big fan of the overall experience at SFNE. The ops aren't that great, B:DK's station is about as bad as a station can be (though it leads to a short front row queue, so I don't complain that much) and the rest of the coasters are pretty blah. A lot of the fun flats don't open on less busy days. S:RoS often only runs 1 train, and often only opens late in the day.
That said, one S:RoS night ride with the misters makes the park worth it every visit. My top 5 or so ride experiences ever were all night rides on S:RoS.

Overall I think you'd get a better experience. The atmosphere is great. The park is located on the side of a mountain, how much better can you get? I'm sure the admission is cheaper, I remember at the hotel I stayed at I got in for around $23. I think its around $30 to get in while I'm sure SFNE is around $40-45. Plus, free soda so you'll be saving even more money, or use that money to get a shirt!
While SFNE would have more to do ride wise, the excellence that is Boulderdash will easily keep you entertained.
I think you'll make a wise choice either park because I love them both. I've enjoyed all the coasters at SFNE, even the Boomerang. You'll have an excellent time either way, but I vote the Lake.
Lake Compounce = Riding the greatest wooden coaster on earth without breaking any bones. (Mostly) pleasant employees. Great atmosphere, great food, short (if any) lines. And Garfield (well OK maybe that's not a positive)
Of course I am biased as I can walk to Lake Compounce.
