Ever wonder where Jazzland's SLC went....?

Jazzland's SLC ended up going to Magic springs this year as Gauntlet...I read about that little nugget of info sometime last week.

Well now people don't have to click the link.

If anyone was at the Spring Con at Jazzland, you may remember the applause associated with the cancellation of the SLC. Hehehe, Terry Prather was very confused at that!

I'll be riding it as Preservation Con....:)

Kinda ironic that we're there mostly for *wooden* coaster preservation, and here's a Steelie (Vekoma no less, ROFL) that was *rescued* from rotting in storage at their facility....hope Magic Springs got a great DEAL on it...:)

$7 mill for Gauntlet, not a great buy, but about half of what a new Batman, or other smaller inverted by Beemer would cost. I hope it is half way decent, the two I've ridden were nothing memorable, except for T2, i'll forever remember that coaster in the ball crushing glory it is.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks you should be required to wear a "cup" when riding SLCs...

What I think is really interesting is how the non-enthusiasts (i.e. what people like to call the general public) are reacting to this ride. They are fascinated by it and if thats the case then good for Magic Springs because it is something that will obviously help the park be successful. When you see huge lines for SLC's at other parks you realize that it is really only the enthusiast community that really despises these rides. I myself happen to like them. I think the layout is really great and very disorienting, the ride is a bit rough for me but that's good because it makes for an intensity you don't get on a B&M invert. The best thing is they are inexpensive to build yet have a very high wow factor among non-enthusiasts which draws more peeps to the park.

As for the price tag, remember that $7 mil is the whole package.

And, oh yeah, I like SLCs too, though I don't think I've ever ridden one as intense as B:TR at SFGam.

The Gravity Group also worked on IB's Air Crow structure.

Well that's the first time I've heard this term (BARTS) used. I always wondered what to call them. What exactly does each letter stand for?

Thanks for the info 'moosh. For some reason I'm excited about this one during the Preservation Con... never been excited about an SLC before...

SLCs are good rides... I'll stand behind that statement until the very end! Good layouts, interesting elements... not nearly as bad as they're made out to be.

Arrow multi-element coasters... now THEY are bad!

SFMM's Viper isn't so bad.

That's what I've heard, but I can't imagine it being so good when GASM @ SFGAdv is so bad. Guess I'll find out for myself next month!
