Ripsaw falls post Rehab

Hi all,

Has anyone ridden Dudley Doo Right's Ripsaw Falls at IOA after it's rehab. If so, have they modified the drop (as speculated)? If so, what are the implications of any such mods for the ride experience?

I rode it on March 26th. The first time I rode that ride was September 10th, 2001. A bit of a time gap and me not knowing it had even been down for rehab when I got in the park account for me not knowing any of the mods or implications of them. *** Edited 5/19/2004 6:42:41 PM UTC by onceler***

Looking at the big drop about a week ago it was pretty easy to see where the modifications were done. It seems to be more of a steady drop now... but I had never ridden it pre-mod. It looks as though you can see where the trough used to go as opposed to where it goes now.

Nuts! That does not sound good, the increasing angle of drop was what made it such fun! I wonder if IOAs website has mentioned anything about it in the on-line literature?

I know! I don't get it either. I did hear several comments on here to the effect of some guests were complaining that the drop was too intense, others were claiming it was causing nose bleeds.

Well, the drop is plainly visible, if you don't like intense rides, don't get on it and if you suffer from nosebleeds, the same applies. Besides, come on- it's just a nose bleed! Personally I think watching people hurl is more gross! :-)

I have also heard speculation that the size and angle of the drop hasn't been altered at all, just the track has been replaced in order to make the experience smoother.

To be quite honest, based on appearances, this drop took me by surprise the first time. It was great though! That's why I love this ride, and probably why us coaster enthusiasts rate it at or near the top of our favorite water rides.

I should be going to the park this Saturday, so I'll let you guys know what the deal is. BTW, do the water rides still open 1 hour after the park opens, even during the summer?

haven't gotten to ride it yet. i was wondering why it's always closed when i go. i'll try to ride it today and let you folks know.

Trust me, the drop is still crazy for a water ride.

FWIW, I *believe* the nosebleeds were a result of people trying to DODGE the water and lowering their heads....then they'd bang their faces on those blasted seat dividers (also a DDR modification) and get a nosebleed. By maintaining a more *consistent* drop angle, it SHOULD help eliminate that problem....of course, this IS Central Florida, so I'm almost certain guests will find something else to complain about, LOL...

Whew... I was wondering how a log flume drop could give people nosebleeds! I didn't realize there were seat dividers to get in the way of diving faces.

Yeah, I feel they're kinda necessary though, well not necessary but appreciated (in my case). When I went on... um, the log flume at CP (snake river?) I recall almost sliding back down the seat during one of the lift hills.

I've ridden it before and after the rehab, and there is no major difference in the drop; it even seems more fast than usual

The seat dividers are nice in that you can put two separate groups in the log without someone having to straddle a stranger... a wet sweaty stranger...

On my last trip I was a single rider alone in a log. The ride ops would not let singles ride alone in the "back seat" - some sort of safety procedure. Too much air on the drop perhaps?
