I have to say the rumor that was the whopper of all time is that SFGAm was going to get a hyper-launched-floorless with 8 inversions and several tunnels. That's truly unbelievable.

i believe magnum is sinking is the biggest ever not because it was the wildest but because it was the buzz EVERYWHERE (that is in the coaster community) and it had the most people believing.

Goliath was originally supposed to go halfway around the back of Magic Mountain. Too bad it didn't! Don't get me wrong though...I love G!

Power Tower (turbo drop side) ripped a girl's face off when her really long hair got tangled in the wheel assembly.

Montezoomas Revenge (or any Shwartz. Shuttle Loop) went too fast and flew off the end.

But the best generic one is...
On (fill in coaster name)(fill in number here) people died when it derailed. This is usually stated while in line for said coaster, usually about a coaster with a perfect or near perfect safety record.

Just about anything that some guest says that you KNOW to be false: Iron Dragon is a water ride, goes upside down, and has derailed. Magnum is sinking, moving, being sold, being renamed, enclosed, or dismantled. Raptor is being made into a dueling coaster, a twin coaster, a suspended coaster. Cedar Point is being bought, sold, or overrun. The list goes on!

That was my favorite! My other favorite was that the brakes failed on Demon Drop, the car flew off the track and landed on a ticket booth. In the version I heard a buch of people either got hurt or killed. I don't remember which, I was on the ground laughing at that point!

I thought of another great one. I went on a trip to Six Flags Saint Louis with a bunch of highschoolers. Anyway, it was 97, while Mr. Freeze was SBNO while they were working out the kinks. It was supposedly "common knowledge" around the STL area that when they were testing Mr. Freeze, the test dummies all came back without their heads, and that's why the ride didn't open in 97. I guess that people never stopped to think that the dummies might have had no heads to begin with!

Giant Dipper at Belmont park flew off the track and crashed into a Jack In the Box across the street!! If you could see how far it was from the ride! It would have to be going about 90 miles per hour to make it! That's a stupid one.

There's one about two kids slapping on a pair of handcuffs on while climbing the lift on Gemini. It's said that they were just fine through the entire ride, however they forgot to take the splitting helices at the end of the ride into account--OUCH!

How about the miner's creek at c.p. derailing over the river and that the train floated on the water. Pretty silly .

Everybody died on every coaster ever. I was riding the looping starship at BGT and the kid next to me wouldn't shut his mouth about how everybody died on this ride. I just ignored him, and enjoyed the ride.
