Driving Home From Park Feelings?

Today I was at Knoebels and had several laps on the Bumper Cars and Flyers! :)

When it was time to leave I got in my car and started to leave the parking lot.

When I was driving away to me the first minute or two I was in the car driving it sort of felt like I was riding a coaster or ride. The feeling was about gone by the time I got to Rt. 487

I was talking with my friend a few minutes ago and she made the comment too so I was thinking more people probably feel it too.

Anyone else get that feeling too or are we the only ones?

The first time I went to SFWoA as SFWoA (so that was what, '01 season?) my best friend and I rode so many times that we both felt like we still had OTSRs in the car for a while - could feel the pressure on our shoulders, chest and legs. Definitely a weird feeling.

As far as feeling the coasters as if I was still on 'em? Nah, usually doesn't matter how many people in the car, just me or many people, the car's rockin' hardcore before we even leave the parking lot to drain that excess adrenaline. Too busy singin' and bouncing to notice the coaster feeling ;)

So I'm not the only one that feels this way sometimes! I sometimes still feel like I'm flying a couple of hours after flying cross country.

When I drive away, I don't always feel like I'm riding the coaster, but I always sit down, buckle my seat belt and for a split second wonder why a ride attendent has come by to check my seat belt.

I only get these feelings after I've spent an entire day at a park getting multiple rides on most of the coasters. It doesn't work any other way.

Kingda Ka: The only coaster that felt faster than the advertised speed! To me at least.

When I rode and S&S tower for the first time I couldn't sleep because I had that feeling stuck. It was a three hour drive from the park to home, and I didn't feel a thing until then.

When I get home after a full day at a park, I'll lie face up in bed and close my eyes, and sometimes I feel like the bed is careening up hills, around turns, and through inversions. It's a cool feeling, but it mostly happens when I'm really exhausted after having multiple rides on many coasters, as go_with_gravity mentioned.

After long days riding S:RoS at SFNE, I've definitely driven home catching myself thinking "Man, that hill didn't have much air at all" everytime we went over a bump in the road.

I know I'll get some grief for this, but after a day *full* of inversions at BGT (Montu, Kumba, Phoenix, Scorpion), every once in awhile I catch myself driving home and *anticipating* a loop in the road ahead...thankfully, it's always been a "mental mirage"...so far....;)

My feeling happens whenever I leave any park but it is a little hard to describe. It is like I can feel my body and my head but I have no neck. I am constantly rolling my head around and doing all kinds of contortions but it feels like my head is just floating above my body. I wouldn't bother mentioning except that it happens every single time that I am driving home from a park. Also, does anybody get weird bruises from the OTSR's? It looks like someone has drawn on my shoulders with a reddish purple pen everytime i come home from a park.

Gator, it's not a mirage, it is the dreaded I-75 contruction loop. No matter how hard you try, you cannot escape.

i was on the toilet in the bathroom of the TGI Fridays by Cedar Point....the Hotel Breakers one. I closed my eyes and I felt like I was going down Magnums hill (i rode it 52 times that day.

It was really scaring me. But it went away 5 minutes later.

LOL! Well, can't say I have had the same feeling while sitting on the can! :-D

When I spend a day at a park nowadays the LAST thing I want to do is drive home. The first half hour of driving home I am fine but for some reason I get tired VERY fast and I need a place to crash, even if it's PKI or Kennywood (which are about 3 1/2-4 hours from me).

The last time I drove that distance and spent the WHOLE day at a park and then attempted to drive home I almost killed myself. :-( Motels and campgrounds rock!

Dad....still better than the I-4 parking lot, LOL...;)

Brian....Phoenix is the name for the (inverting) swinging ship at BGT...in Timbuktu right next to the NEW (not-so-much) Wild Mouse....I'll get on it Wednesday so I can tell you all how exciting it is ;)

Ok, I thought you might have meant Python instead of Phoenix, which was notably missing from the "loop de looping" coasters you mentioned there.

One of the worst nights of my life was the second time I went to Kennywood. I got almost no sleep the night before, because I was sleeping on a hardwood floor at a friend's house. Not to mention, my underwear was still wet from being caught in a rainstorm at Three Rivers Stadium that night.

So the next night, after a full day at KW, me and two friends are trying to drive home, and none of us can stay awake for more than a few minutes. We tried to stop at a rest stop to sleep, but a cop came around and made us get moving (is that stupid or what?). Fortunately one of us (not me) got enough sleep in that 30 minutes before the cop came to get us home to Columbus safely (at about 6 a.m.).

That is the most tired I've ever been.

I have felt that feeling of still being on a ride on the way home and have even had it while lying in bed. What really gives me the feeling of still moving is after fishing all day on a boat. I go to bed and the bed feels like the boat rocking in the waves. A night ride on MF or marathoning on Magnum before closing really pumps me up and helps me stay awake for my 3 hour trip home.

After marathoning on Raptor last year at closing time, I felt like I was drunk and still felt that way as I was checking in at Breakers Express.

Driving around here in western Pa., sometimes I think that I'm on a really rough old wooden coaster that's ready to fall down ;) *** Edited 4/26/2004 4:39:45 PM UTC by CP ismyhome***

Wow. I guess most of us have that same feeling huh?

I usually don't feel after-effects of riding unless it was after a long ERT or something like that.

In 1995, Six Flags St. Louis had one of the best coaster events I have ever attended which included 2 hours of ERT on the new Batman, for 3 mornings and two nights, as well as a few other coasters.

By the start of the second morning, some of us had logged in over 100 rides on Batman. That second evening, after ERT ended, a friend and I drove back to our hotel and were feeling after-effects big time. As we drove down the freeway, we kept on feeling as if we were in Batman's heatline spin. Even when I went to sleep that night I could still feel it. i guess going upside down over 500 times in 24 hours can do that to you. Who would have guessed? =:^)

Wooden coasters however rarely give me any after-effects for some reason, even after riding them a lot in one day. After the 30 hour marathon last year at SFOG, I didn't feel any after-ride sensations. All I wanted to do was sleep.

Before I started getting into coasters, I really loved water parks. After spending an hour or two in a wave pool, I would still feel as if I was floating over waves when I would go to sleep.
