Storm Runner preview day pics.

As the previous post I had made. It looks as though the planned opening for Storm Runner is Memorial Day weekend.

I was invited to the preview day Monday May 24, 2004, and here is a link to the pics of the card I received in the mail.

I was talking to ride mechanics, and it seems that Hershey wants to make sure that it is going to run well. They want to make sure everything is right, so they don't experience the contamination problems that TTD had experienced.

Knowing how Hershey operates if the coaster is ready they will open it. If its not they won't. Giving them until May 24th gives themselves a lot of time to make sure it is ready for daily use.

I am a little bummed out because I was preparing for opening day May 7, and getting there early to be one of the first in line. ;) At the sametime I happy that I get to attend a catered preview day several weeks later. Getting free food, and ERT is always a plus.

How'd you get one of these, and where can I get one? :)

Yea, I was hoping i would be one of the first in the park on opening day and one of the first to ride. Guess not, Im a little Bummed about this. Oh well, Its better to have a ride open late then barely open at all.

I too wonder how you get invited to that. I am a season pass holder and I didn't get one, but I did get another mailing (this past weekend) that said something about a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 8 for SR.

This sucks because I already took a vacation day on May 7 hoping it was going to be ready...Oh well, I knew it was wishful thinking. And I am willing to sacrifice a couple of weeks if it means getting it operating properly from Day 1.

Now I am wondering if I should take a vacation day on May 26 since that is the next operating day after the preview day.

BTW- HP's website has a new look...and I like it.

For those of you who didn'r get one, it's because it's a media preview for a select audience. I'm guessing the list of invities includes only telivision, radio, and newspaper anchors, webmasters of MAJOR rollercoaster related websites, executive board members or media members of coaster clubs, and people with inside relation to the park (ie the construction workers, the families of the executive board members, etc...).

I have a feeling that person has some sort of connection to HP considering him mentioning talking to ride mechanics and living in Hershey PA. Everyone in the world isn't invited because it's a Media Day...for the media..not enthusiasts.

Thanks for that insight...I suppose I should have known that a "Preview Day" was only for the media. Silly me!

There was some debate at Dragster's media day about whether Ruben was invited, or just showed up anyway... Either way, the man really has no significance in the grand scheme of things.

Yes... much better than that pansy pink that they were using.

But if invites for media day go out to "MAJOR rollercoaster related websites" (however that is determined) can it really be considered a "select" audience? Seems like more of a grab bag of people that will take pictures and say happy things as opposed to some special coaster intelligentsia.

Kind of like Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of summer, the "How Do I Get Into Media Day" thread marks the official last days of the offseason. :)

Yes...only special people can go. The rest of yoose slokes can watch it on the TeeVee. ;)

Heatherw I don't have a date for the event. It would be possible for you to come along. I have to send in the card stating how many people I am bringing from my immediate family. ;) If I am not taking family I can only have one guest.

I am taking my son with me. He'll be so happy to have ERT and free food. I am sure that he'll have a good time. Like father like son.

I am wondering how many people are invited to the event. Thinking about how many rides I'll be able to get. ;) A full TR will follow of course.

Don't go in expecting tons of rides. You MAY get a bunch, you may not. Depends on a number of things, from how reliable the ride is to how many reporters show up...

Gregleg do you think that Paul Rubens will show up? ;)

Actually I am not expecting that many rides. I hope to at least get 1 in the front, so I don't have to wait in the long line when it opens.

I would not be surprised at all if Mr Ruben is there AND declares it his new #1.

Hasn't he done so already Greg? ;)

Maybe we'll get lucky, and Paul Rubens will have his lucky banana along for when he going over the tophat...He'll show us the airtime. ;)
