I am going to PKI for the first time and need help

Gonch, you said you are going this weekend? Doesn't the park open April 10th?

Yes, the park's 'official' opening is April 10th. But thanks to some very gracious aquaintances, I'll be there this weekend. :)

Carstenka - you will have a very hard time getting a room if your under 21. The 18 & older hotels are few and far between. It's a liability thing.

Does anyone know what Cedar Point's Web site is? Oh, and what will the crowds be like on July 2. That's my birthday and I'm super excited to go that day.

The opening day for PKI is officially April 9 (Good Friday). If you own a season pass, April 4 is a season pass preview day. I will be there this Sunday. (April 4)

Cedar Point???? More than likely, the crowds on July 2 will be hot. : )

You will most likely have to settle for a 'sub-par' motel. Check out Red Roof Inn or Motel 6. RRI's are much better than 6's, but they still suck compared to other places.

It's one of my quirks - what can I say?

I dont really have anything "on point" to say, but I will chime in on the side of da 'Gonch (or should we dub him the Gooch?). I'm really picky about hotels nowadays. While there are some very nice Motel 6's around (like the one near Holiday World), I much prefer staying in something a little less random. I've become particularly attached to the Hilton Family (no not because of Paris) generically and the Hampton Inn and Suites particularly.

My biggest reason for liking them is their 'vanilla' nature. I dont think that any of the Hamptons I've stayed in have been opulent, but neither has any one been a hole. I know I'll get a very satifactory room with a big wonderful bed and speedy guest service. Throw in a jacuzzi and I have no problem with dropping a hundred bucks a night....I'M ON VACATION!

You're a wise man, Jeremy. Hilton is a close second behind Marriott. I think the last time I stayed at a hotel that wasn't a Marriott or Hilton branded hotel was about 13 years ago (not counting the on-site hotels at CP)

We stayed at a Red Roof Inn that was like one or two exits away from the park. If you can deal with not getting an electronic pass-card key, then this is the place for you. I'm sure the place wasn't expensive.

I can vouch for that one as well. It was decent place, but don't count on the 'breakfast' they have. I have never seen OJ served in a cup that small and forget about the little rock-muffins. Anywho... it fits the ticket for someone under 21 that has a tight budget.
