What has become of Ripsaw Falls?

Hi all,

I've seen several posts on here indicating that Dudley Doo Right's Ripsaw falls at IOA is undergoing refurbishment, which may include modifications to its amazing final drop. Does anyone have an update on the status of this ride? Has the drop been tampered with? If so, what impact have the modifications had on the intensity of the final drop?

Best, B

You might want to wait till somebody actually rides the thing after its rehab to gauage the intensity. Patience, young grasshopper, answers will come.

Michael,

I've been called a few things beginning with "g" before, but never "Grasshopper" :-)

I was just wondering if anyone had the inside scoop on exactly what they were doing to the ride; i've only heard speculation to date.

Ta, G....er, I mean B.

The speculation I've read is that they are taming down the final drop because people are commenting that it hurts their back.

I've also heard some wild rumor that the ride was getting new 2-peeps per row boats, but that seems unfeasible without major, costly changes to the course.

Dukeis#1,

I hope it is just speculation......I'd heard other speculation about complaints that the final drop was giving people nosebleeds. Honestly, some people are such whimps!!! ;-)

The great thing about that drop is that it is not in any way violent, but still generates some airtime and a lot of excitement.

Does anyone know when it is scheduled to re-open.

Best,

B

Wow....I know everyone is different, but I can't believe that last drop was reportedly doing all of that. I thought it was fine when I rode it....nothing too extreme, but great airtime. It will be interesting to see how it turns out after the re-furb.
