Definitely not in the closet. I teach high school and most of the students think my hobby is cool. Helps me connect with them. And makes great examples for math problems.

Speaking of "not in the closet", did anyone notice I got a mention on ARN&R today...;)

Hmm... have 4 different season park passes, fiance and little bro are just obsessed as me, Mom was the one that started me on coasters and actually was the one who introduced me to South Cal parks, I own a website devoted to coasters.

NOPE, nobody knows I like them. ;)

I definitely am not in the closet about the coaster hobby. Like Dawn Marie said above ,it is all in how you present it to others. My wife thinks that I am a bit obsessed with coasters,but most people think that it is interesting. I even had a couple of co-workers join me on a trip to the Puyallup fair in September last year. They took their first rides ever on a wooden coaster and an S&S tower ride. We must have made quite a sight on the S&S tower as all of us are in our 40s.

Closet? I wouldn't say I'm a flamming enthusiast (I spend more time and money on motorcycling) since there are some rides even this credit whore refuses to experience, but I don't hide it.

I came out of the coaster clost in 2000. I always loved coasters, but I was out, loud, and proud after attending CP and PKI for the first time that year. It was a freeing experience...... :)

I'd say most people that know me are aware of the fact that I'm interested in coasters. I have a tendancy to sketch coasters in my notes at school when I'm bored, so anybody who sits near me probably knows I like coasters too.

When I worked in printing I used to display my coaster calendars which were a huge hit, as well as my coaster screen saver. The customers that didn't already know about this hobby would usually inquire. Most of them knew though, and everytime I would request time off my boss would be like "Ok Tina, what park are you going to THIS time?" LOL!

He even called my cell as he heard about to SRM incident just to make sure I was OK. :-)

Other than that I don't really talk about it unless asked, then I am happy to help anyone out with questions, especially if they are looking for discounts or info on a particular park. :-D

Actually, I enjoy the "forbidden pleasure" of Robert Cartmell's book under the sheets with a flashlight. I'm pretty sure my wife doesn't suspect. ;)

It's not something that I bring up immediatley when I first meet someone but all of my family, friends, and co-workers know about my little hobby. My co-workers are especially cool about it, as they always ask me how my trips went when I get back to work and make comments to me like "Uh oh, he's at it again" when they see me with an atlas or using mapquest. *** Edited 2/12/2004 4:17:17 AM UTC by Pale Rider***
