What will coasters be like in 10 years?

They didn't forget it in Sandusky, they wrote the song....well at least the lyrics anyways!!;)

Well, if you really want to know (even if I'm not supposed to tell) - in the future - Knott's Berry Farm will remove the entire North end of the park including: Xcelerator, Sky Cabin, Perilous Plunge, RipTide, Boomerang, Montezooma's Revenge, Camp Snoopy, Silver Bullet, Jaguar!, La Revolucion, Timber Mountain Log Ride and the Stagecoach attraction in order to make room for the upcoming Windjammer's Revege - a five-tracked super-coaster - details to come.

That's a decent attempt at Humor , but unfunnily worded. Hang out in the highjacked threads to learn from the pros.

I think in ten years all the new concepts that parks want will be too high in price, and we'll see another coaster depression.

If television and movies have taught me anything, it's that everything in the future will be shiny, and oddly-shaped.

I think more attention will be paid to rider comfort due to an ever ageing population. This might lead to the removal or reprofile of more coasters than we've seen in this decade. It will become more challenging for parks to add new coasters as space starts running out, unless they remove or transfer existing attractions.

1. they just might realize viper is a piece of crap

2. chiller still wont work

3. mach 1 makes its return for the 5th time

6.wild safari closes after a little boy gets his head choped off by an animal

7.there will be no more flats left

8. rolling thunder is still the only wooden coaster in the park.

9.runaway mine trains track will fall into the water killing 10

10. batmans stunt arena sits empty...again

11. after angry protest the dolphins will be gone.

12. sf will be owned by ford

13. ride ops still there, still as dumb... u bet (well most of them)

14. $500 for a one day admission

15. $50 for parking

I think it seems with TTD, rides have reached a limit in which going even bigger won't make that much of a difference in the ride experience. What I think could still make some difference is how the forces work on the riders. On German fairs these days there's lots of rides that throw people around in ways that no one would have considered "enjoyable" 10 years ago - instand puke machines, so to speak.
I think that with the heartline rolls seen on the 10 inversion coaster, HPs Storm Runner and also the new Gerstlauers extreme Mouses, this tendency is also happening on coasters as well.
I think the well balanced "floaty" ride experience of B&Ms is going to be accompaigned by more and more rides where the up-stop wheels are there not only as a kind of "safety backup" - the feeling of terror, danger and out-of-this worldness that the modern inverting coasters created is going to be transposed to other insane-looking-and-feeling elements.
Time will tell if more complex combination-rides like X will take on - or if we will get to see a trackless 6-degrees-of-freedom robot-arm coaster worth the name any time soon.
It's a question of the economic development as well - I guess rides like X or TTD are big financial risks undertaken by the respective companies.
For me personally - coasters could stop right here, I'm already happy with what we have right now - if it could only be a little closer to where I live.

We'll probably see coasters that will hardly classify as actual roller coasters, per se. A lot of people think that this has already started, including me.

I really expect little to no progress. I actually think this coaster era (like the 20's) to be ending, and I don't think they'll be a new period like the last 10-20 until 20-30 years from now.
