what is the deal with this? this is a staple ride for the park, it is a classic, and has been their since it was a marriott park. is this true?

It is already crated up in the employee parking lot. I heard Six Flags was offered 1.5 million for it but thought it was worth more.

If there are any Six Flags parks (or properties) out there that dont have a carousel yet, this would make for a wonderful addition. I just personally hope that they dont add any more games instead of a ride in it's place. We already have more than enough games in the park.

This is the Dentzel machine from Fountaine Ferry Park. I seriously doubt that any of the original figures remain on it. KECO removed and sold theirs (a PTC machine)from the Santa Clara park a couple of years ago. It's now in Seattle. As far as carousels in Six Flags parks go, it seems to be left up to on site management. Some are immaculately maintained, others are not. *** Edited 12/31/2003 3:27:19 PM UTC by Dutchman***

This isnt the double decker at the front of the park, this one was right by Iron Wolf. The park essentially had 3 carousel I can see why they got rid of it, but only if they add a good flat in its place.

I think it was a good decision to move it becuase it was hardly ever open during the 2003 season. When it was, I didn't see many people riding it. They have Columbia in the front, and that's more popular just becuase it's in the front, and that's the first ride you see and many people, including me, ride first when they get there.

I just hope something good goes there. Alot of people are saying one of the "4 new flat rides" will go there. I'll just have to see come May 1st now won't I?

Like mentioned, the classic up front is safe and it would be a mistake if removed and you would see a lot more people upset.

Yes, A-Meri-Go-Round is gone already and it will be replaced with one of our flats for '04. which one? We don't know, lets wait til may to find out, no matter how hard that is. I think that if we do get a top spin, which i've heard a couple of times, it will probably go there.

I dont think were gonna have to wait till May, considering that theres proably gonna be an announcement soon sometime ;)

Does anyone know how much Great America actually thought this carousel was worth? I know the story about the $1.5 million, and they turned it down, and what not.

What park offered them the 1.5 million?

This is a three abreast Jester sheild Dentzel, very similar to the Glen Echo machine. I have a photo of it when the park was owned by Marriott. I haven't seen it lately, so I can not tell what kind of shape it was in. Late model Dentzels are highly desirable. However I would serioulsy question the $1.5 million price tag. That sounds like what Norton of Michigan would tell them. Which means that they they would be actually looking at closer to $750,000, maybe, depending upon condition and whether or not it still has the original figures.

I wonder if this ride was really sold or if it's going to be placed in a Six Flags Park. Great Escape doesn't have a classic Carousel, only a Chance and Im not sure Who else doesn't have one. They shouls just hold on to it in storage for now.

Thats a shame, cus when I was there in sept it was sitting dormet. Its a beautiful looking ride and I hope it finds a good home.

SFMW could also use this carousel, the miniature one they have now looks like something you'd find out in front of Kmart!
