TimbersFest 2004

Well my friend Laura and I are planning on going to Timbersfest this coming year and I plan on traveling from Missouri. My question is, Is it worth the trip up there? I am guessing it to be about 7 to 9 hour drive there. So for those who have attended this event in the past how is it and is it worth my money to go? Thank You.

Well, IMO it is worth it. But it aint no Stark Raven Mad. It still was a lot of fun. If you are an ACE member I would suggest to go to Coaster Con 2004 at Cedar Point and Six Flags World's of Adventure which starts the day after Timbersfest ends. Might as well make the most out of the trip!

Exactly, CP is roughly about 4 1/2 from Muskegon I think.

I have never been to a Timbersfest but I have always heard the event is a blast.

I have been to Mia once this past year and I was not impressed by it at all and will probably not "go out of my way" until they get something new that is worth the drive. :-)

Usually an event will perk it up though, so yeah I think it's worth going. :-)

Actually, I didn't expect my 17 year old son to be impressed by MiA, but he spent a good 3 hours in the waterpark and loved the fact he could virtually walk on most of the rides there. He loved Timbers. In fact, I was ready to leave before he and his GF were.

He wants to go to Timbersfest this year.

Don't expect a large park, or one with the atmosphere of Holiday World. ST's the main (some might say only) highlight of the dry park. The waterpark is actually larger than the dry park, so bring your swimsuit.

I enjoyed Timbersfest last year and plan on going again, but I don't know if it's worth the long drive for Timbersfest alone. However, if you can tie it in with other events as Beast mentioned, it'd be worth hitting.

I'm planning on hitting my first Timbersfest. I want to see what all the fuss is about on Shivering Timbers.

I've already made my campground reservations at the state park for the weekend :)

As for the park... Timbers rocks, some of the other rides are pretty darn good (Falling Star, Zachs Zoomer) and the waterpark is great

One thing to keep in mind. Timbers takes some time to "warm up".

My son rode it first thing in the morning, after some heavy rain, and it was rather sluggish. He seriously wondered why I liked it so much. I suggested he wait and ride it later.

By late afternoon, it was flying, and my son got off his second ride and said "okay, NOW I know why everyone likes this coaster so much!"

Riding it in the dark only adds to the experience.

Playa, I didn't get to see the waterpark but from what I could tell that seems to be the biggest attraction to the locals.

And yes, Timbers does take some time to warm up!!

Does it really qualify as a wave pool when it's approximately ankle-deep?

Ankle-deep????? Yikes. Is that counting the depth of the waves also? :-)

Is that park worth a 7 to 9 hour drive by itself? I would say no. But if you are going to hit other parks on the trip I would say yes. You could go into Ohio for CP and SFWoA or back to IL for SFGAm.
