General, B&M, Vekoma, Intamin Questions

I made a list of topics to post, however each is not worth it's own thread. So here is a list of questions;

General;
1) Some one said 'Rollercoaster' is not the real name, would that be 'Gravity-based railroad' or 'Scenic Railway' or 'Switchback'?
2) Has anyone seen the Coke Ad of a Fantasy Coaster that shoots out of a Giant Coke Bottle & the seats detach from Sit-Down track onto Inverted track?
3) Has anyone been for a joyride in an Aerobatic Plane and how was it compared to coasters?

B&M;
4) Will we ever see a Cobra Roll or any other twin-inversion element and a Zero-G Roll on Stand Ups?
5) How about a Floorless vs Inverted Dueling/Racing coasters?
6) Are there any new B&M Inversions in the works?
7) Is it true that the rails of Dueling Dragons are filled with sand to reduce noise? Do any other coasters have sand in their rails or spine(s) for that matter?
8) My father is too wide to fit into any B&M seat, not even the 'Big Boy' seats, they're all the same width, BB seats just allow pot bellies. What's up with this?? He asked a Hulk ride-op and they said that B&M are worried that a child will slip out if the seat is any wider.
9) Note with the latest B&M coasters, especially the Floorless Trains, the wheels are covered. This is probably to stop foreign objects from stuffing up the wheels.

10) Is it normal for a Vekoma Boomerang to have it's train stripped down after less than a year of operation?
11) Are the latest generation Vekoma SLCs totally free of any head banging? As the '95 Lethal Weapon has some when pulling out of the Sidewinder Loop & going into the Double Roll.

Intamin;
12) What is the name of the shopping mall that has a Intamin Giant Drop built inside it on a wall and where is it?
13) How many generations of Intamin Giant Drops are there and what's the difference inbetween them? The '95 210ft Space Probe has three cars of four, terrible capacity. Would the newere generations feature more cars? Can you get six cars? Yes, I know about the 40 Seater Gyro Drop, that is something else.

14) Would anyone be interested to see a Theme Park for Coaster Enthusiasts only & would feature the most extreme coasters ever? It could be called 'Ultra World.'

B&M #7- Not sure about Dueling Dragons but Medusa West has in the tracks that makes the coaster very quiet.

General #3: I hate to say it, but the flight in the plane was a lot better than any coaster. Reason? You could do any kind of element anytime you want. That's beside the fact that I almost crashed it on landing. :) (Long story, and yes, an instructor was with me)

B&M #4. I beleive there already is a stand up with a Zero-G roll. It's called Shockwave, at Drayton Manor in England. It's built by Intamin though... I don't know why B&M doesn't do it...

Yeah, I had a feeling that #3, joyrides, would be better, especially flying low while inverted.

LOL! You nearly crashed the plane? Did ya jocks turn brown? Try crashing on a coaster! :)

Yup, Shockwave has the Roll, someone said it's a real doozy. Mebbe it's because B&M reckon their trains are too wide for that, i.e. the outside riders would get whipped around.

Well, what happened was that we were all lined up for landing, but we were a few feet too high. I, being the smart guy that I am, thought, "Hey, to go lower, put the nose down!"
At the same time, the instructor was doing the proper thing, putting the power back.
That's not a good thing, (especially when you're about 50 feet off the ground).
The instructor managed to pull us out of it just before we hit the top of a tree. I really don't want to ever see a bird in flight from that close again :) (I know this isn't coaster related, sorry)

11# The problem with Vekoma SLC's will always be that the wheel assembly doesn't move independently like on their Invertigo's. So therefore when your going through the last 3 elements the trains vibrate quite a bit which gets transferred to your head. By the way, if the earpad didn't have those stupid grooves in it my ears wouldn't mind it as much. 14# Wouldn't make any money. Enthusiasts are such a small minority out of the themepark clientele. 8# I feel sorry for your dad, but you've got to realize that most rides are built for European body sizes which tend to be a lot smaller than Americans. To make the seats wider wouldn't make sense.

I don't know of any Mall having a giant drop but the West Edmenton Mall has an older Intamin freefall ride indoors

I Liked Psyclone the way it was

The Intamin Giant Drop in the mall is in England I believe. There was a nice article about it in First Drop a year or 2 ago. It has 2 unique features. (Other than being inside)

It has one 8 passenger car. 4 people stacked on top of each other. The top 4 board on a retracting floor like on a B&M floorless. It also has an on-ride photo, if I remember correctly. By all accounts it is one of the most fun of the giant drops despite it's small height. It is literally shoehorned in the small space and creates an amazing visual effect supposedly.

Answer to #14, There is an Ultra Park for enthusisats, it's called Six Flags Magic Mountain :)

#7 yes dueling dragons does have sand in its rails to reduce noise and the only other coaster i know that has that also is medusa at SFMW.

8 - I'm 6'3 and although I can ride coasters, my legs look like a battering ram at the end of the day. We all have our limits.
