Joe, the timing might be *ironic* for us, but I guess the ECC doesn't have the same connection to Dec. 7 as Americans do. Coming on the heels of ACE's "Pontintration camp" faux pas, though, WW-II must be making some sort of a comeback in the coaster community....

Maybe I can stage a take-over of Europe while the ECC is invading Japan? Pretty sure the French will surrender...;)

That looks like a great trip. Too bad I'll be in school. :-p

rollergator -

But from what I semi-heard, ACE might be joining the ECC for the trip, so it is *ironic* nonetheless. ;)

I'm assuming you could not be a member and just pay a non-member rate but don't quote me on that...

Just check out www.coasterclub.org for all details about joining the European Coaster Club!

I've been talking about going on the ACE Japan trip whenever it happens. Now it looks like we MIGHT know (if this becomes a joint ACE/ECC trip). Even if this ISN'T the ACE trip, I'm definitely going to look into going. The European Odyssey was a blast. Hope to see some of you there...l

I will be going in the summer, so if anyone would like to meet at any particular park, we can make some arrangements well in advance. I have to go back as it's been a few years. Fortunately, my in-laws home keeps the cost down, and I can just enjoy the country to my hearts' content. This trip WILL include Korakuen, and Mitsui Greenland (as long as my wife agrees, that is ;)). We also plan on hitting Hokkaido and visit relatives. Perhaps I can get Peabody to go again, as he has been itching to get back. I'd honestly rather go by myself or with a very very small group than a large group, as you aren't allowed to be very selfish when you are in a bigger group.... and I LOVE to be selfish! ;)

Hey, nasai. I seem to remember a thread over the summer where you were kind enough to direct us to a website for pretty great airfares to Japan.

I can't find it again for the life of me (I could've sworn I bookmarked it)

Any chance you could drop that URL for us again?

I just seemed to notice that there is no single Beemer around Tokyo.
This will be an awesome trip, even if they will miss out on some "must do" parks (imo):

-Parque Espana with the unique giant inverter "Pyrenees".

-Space World with the "lost" Arrow pseudo Hyper and the incredible "Venus".

- Nasu Highland Park (or maybe better "Meisho Paradise) with an assortment of weird Meisho creations. If you want to see some video clips, click the link, use the target and then click "check")
http://nasuhai.co.jp/

But travelling is not the only extremeley expensive thing in Japan. And they will be broke after three nights in Tokyo anyway ;-)

Joe and I were talking about that last night, actually. I haven't been to Japan, so I can't comment on the relative location of these parks, but I'd imagine working in all the "must do" parks would just be too difficult/expensive. As it is, this is going to be an insane trip.

Sorry, on West coast time here, but Coasterfile hit it on the head. You should get pretty killer rates from them. If not, try out Captains Travel Network, my other choice for stellar deals. :)

They actually announced it on the 6th at their event. It was only posted on the website the 7th. *** Edited 12/8/2003 5:30:38 PM UTC by BeastFreak***

While I think it would be very cool to have a ACE / ECC monster trip become a reality (as of right now it's a strong possibility), I will be doing this trip no matter who is doing it. It sounds too good to pass up in these early stages already. Let's just hope it becomes a reality.

If the ACE ECO trip was any indication, I won't be missing another trip like this again.

I agree -- this trip definitely appeals to me, although it'd be even more tempting if it hit some of the Japanese B&M's. As I noted earlier, though, this IS still a tenative schedule.

Of course, the Coasterbahn looks tempting as well (ECC's German trip in 2004). It'd be real tough to do both. Decisions, decisions...
