Just wondering if anyone has had the chance to ride this yet and what they thought about it? I am thinking about going to Vegas in February and wanted to know if this is as insane as the video on their website is?

It is very cool. We had to wait about an hour and 15 min. to just get up the elevator at Strat. (on 11/29), so allow time. It's $19 for the elevator, Big Shot, and X-Scream without any coupon. It is worth it, for sure. Have fun!

What's the (unreasonable) cost for all three attractions?

The cost is to ride the elevator up since the building is so high, go with someone who lives in Vegas as you get a cheaper rate.

Moosh: If you think that's bad- I paid 29.99 to "experience" Star Trek. No offense to the trekkies, but I hate Star Trek. I have never been able to sit through an entire episode. The tour was hilarious, but man, I am a geek!

X-Scream wasn't finished yet when I was in Vegas, but it was operational for my sister last month. She LOVED it. For those of you who've met Liz, you can imagine what the people down on the street must've been thinking when she was riding...;)

Am I the only one who doesn't trust that thing??? I'm sorry, but no amount of magnets or physical brakes / restraints can convince me to hang my body 1100 feet over the strip... I guess I'm too much of a wimp. Rode Big Shot though... and THAT was a blast.

I know a few people who rode it. None of them really liked it, said it wasn't worth the money and that it was just like being on high roller, but just shorter and less fun. They are all locals, and one of them has bungeed off the Strat, so maybe they are just odd. *** Edited 12/8/2003 4:04:23 AM UTC by GoliathKills***

Now if they would only approve the hook coaster, we can dream can't we?

The Strat is going for the no holds barred thrill of near death...hehe

They should put a SCAD system on the side of the tower....a good drop of 800-900ft into a net above the strip...hey no noisy wheels or track to disturb the neighbors...lol

...and such

No, this is SCAD tower: http://www.montic.de/montic%20site/site-e/pages/scad.html

Basically, it's an upcharge where riders experience a completely untethered freefall into a net. The thing is, though, that the current tallest SCAD tower is about as high as they can go. Falling into a net is not a completely pain-free experience, and falling from higher is only going to hurt worse. There's no way you could *ever* see an 800-900' SCAD tower.

The times I have done SCAD diving (7 dives), I haven't had a single moment of pain. However, I haven't done the one at Wisconsin Dells yet so I can't comment on that one.

The landing is very smooth. Out of all the upcharge attractions I have done (skycoasters, bungy jumping, etc.) SCAD is the most thrilling to me.

However, that might change come February.

When I rode it, I ended up with scratches on my arm from the net. It knocked the wind out of my friend. The SCAD is a thrilling experience (even if it's not worth $40, IMO) but at least in my experience, it wasn't pain free.

Just got back from Vegas and must admit, X-Scream looks alot worse than it is. Its alot of fun to watch other riders reaction from the observation deck. I still like the big-shot better. Also the high roller is down for routine work. Both rides and tower admission were $19.
