Castaway Bay at Cedar Point

For those who have yet to see it, Cedar Point has finally issued a press release on it's new indoor water park coming to the Radisson. Castaway Bay, scheduled to open in November 2004, with be a Caribbean-themed resort with a water coaster, water slides, a wave pool, children's area and more.

Looks like a hell of a place...and I can't wait to go!

This looks like a great addition. I wonder if some other parks (like ones near me) will catch onto this idea and add a year-round attraction. That would be swell.

So my question is....is the Master Blaster sinking like Magnum? :)

Actually I hope this indoor park does really well, because at the latest conference call Dick Kinzel said that they were interested in adding them to WOF, VF, and KBF as well (notice no mention of DP). So I have my fingers crossed that this will be a success.

You have to to get a room to ride it? Won't there be a price just to go and ride the water slides?

Yea I would think that the people staying there would get free admission...but the general public should be able to pay a fee of maybe 20 dollars to let them in so Cedar Point can make more profit...that would make more sense wouldnt it??What about people that stay at breakers? In that pic is it just me or does it look like that is a retractacble roof??or is it in the drawing they didnt draw the roof?? well either way it looks like fun and i will hopefully get there sometime....

Kinzel said that depending on how Castaway Bay does, they'd look into expanding the idea to the parks with the space to even consider it. He clearly stated that DP and KBF were out of the running for one due to space issues. Did you actually listen to the call?

.. and I would bet the farm that unless you have a room at Castaway Bay.. You can't get into the water park. It is a limited space and it is something being marketed to people staying at the hotel. The GP being allowed in could cause it to hit capacity before the hotel guests get in.

And imagine all the problems that would cause.

It seems to work for Great Bear. Guest only with a VERY few exceptions (one of those days just came to pass and from what I understand, turnout was less than stellar).

The rendering looks nice, should be a great facility when it opens.

I am thinking of spending Christmas there next year. Or maybe New Years... let's see, oh New Year's is my wedding anniversary so I should be able to talk my wife into it.

It is my somewhat educated understanding that you will need to rent a room if you want to enjoy the waterpark. The whole idea of the park is to get people to stay at the hotel in the off-season.

Straight from the press release...

"Castaway Bay’s indoor waterpark will be open only to overnight guests staying at the resort complex."

Reading the details of the press release... its sounds exactly like Alton Towers Splash Landing Hotel. There, the indoor waterpark is for guests of both hotels (the Splash Landing and Alton Towers Hotel).

Both will have a Master Blaster and an interactive playground.

Could its be this concept is by an outside company/designers and companies simply buy the concept?
