Thunder Run SFKK

I rode Thunder Run at SFKK yesterday. I haven't seen it talked about much here but it's a great ride, and in my opinion the best coaster at SFKK. I was surprised at how much airtime the front seat offers...even more than the rear of the train. It was running very smooth and seemed to only get faster at night. I believe it has an identical layout to the Hurler coasters at Carowinds and PKD. Can anyone verify this?

Can ya' tell I love it?

It was the big surprise of our trip to SFKK, and also our last coaster. It was unfortunate we only got to ride it once, as we arrived with only an hour-and-a-half before the park closed. It's actually a mirror image of the Hurler Twins, and it's far superior in my opinion.

Definitely a wooden coaster that deserves more praise.

I got off this coaster with a big smile on my face. SFKK's hidden gem.

The Hurlers are NOTHING compared to Thunder Run. It's one of those rare, underrated woodies that you can just keep riding into oblivion without a single pain. Awesome airtime!

Thunder Run is much better than the Hurlers. It is strange in one respect. The track is well maintained, but the trains seem to not be so well maintained. Several buzzers including myself have reported restraint failures on this train. It is also common to see rows that are flagged off, probably due to restraint problems. Does anyone know more about this.

My biggest complaint about TR is that there's only one train...GREAT ride!

As far as the Hurlers being poor copies, PCar's was running like crazy this year, certainly WAY better than my previous rides on it. PKD's was like doggy doo in comparison, but the work done on PCar's copy since my last visit was nothing short of *miraculous*.

Back to TR, it is THE ride at SFKK, and almost always has a wait....and *deserves* all the praise it gets.

Thunder Run is by far the best coaster at that park - which honestly has little to "praise" about. It felt more like a carnival midway than anything, nothing other than TR to write home about.

The great thing about TR is it just gets better as it aged. I'm sure many of us can remember back a few years after it opened that it was incredibly rough and painful - but the modifications and track work have made it a truly great coaster. Now if only they could do something with that long straight section before the high turn around.
