HW : Midnight Ride (Octopus) Gone

Holiday World's Midnight Ride (an Octopus) was totally gone from its pad as of yesterday (Saturday, October 4). The sign said "Sorry Closed For The Day") but there's no ride there at all. We saw the central motor housing sitting outside the maintenance building down the hill from the Bumper Boats, and several of the cars were visible inside the maintenance building.

Maybe there storing it for winter early?

Surely they are not removing it permanently. And if they do, I hope they do it like the Banshee. Remove one flat, get two!

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride (Spider) was removed for the rest of the season a few weeks ago so it may undergo a winter re-furbishment. As I understand, it will return next season.

Currently it is dissasembled and sitting in the corner of the employee parking area.

Actually, a part needed some work off-site. We'd expected it back in time for the last few weekends of the season...

...but the best laid plans, and all that.

Not to worry: Paul Revere's Midnight Ride will be back next season.

Even though I've never been to your park, I wish there were more parks like yours. It's refreshing to see a marketing department so "up front" with the public. It's just one more reason that your park is so high on my "must get to list".

Those Eyerly Spiders are great, the only problem with them is parts are starting to become harder to get. Since crowds are getting larger at the park I was wondering if the Spider still had a place there seeing you have to stop it three times to load, and it has low capacity.

Wouldn't parts for the Spider (along with other Eyerly rides0 be available from Oregon Rides?

I was surprised to see (what I thought of as) an obvious "Halloween" ride in the 4th of July section.

The reason...is that we already had the "spider" back when the park was called Santa Claus Land. When the park was divided into three themed sections (1984), that ride was already located in the area that was to be themed around the 4th of July.

Yeah, like millrace, I was surprised when I saw the spider in the 4th of July section. It seemed like it belonged in Halloween to me too. I guess it is painted black because of it being named "Paul Revere's MIDNIGHT Ride", but maybe it should be painted red, white, and blue. Just a thought.

I think all Eyerly Spiders are black. I see the tubs in other colors (Cedar Point has orange, Lakemont has yellow, etc., yes I know those examples are technically Monsters but same idea) but the rest of the ride always seems to be black.

I have an idea! Now that the spider has been disassembled for some work why not transplant in the Halloween section and rename it Black Widow?

...because its fine right were it is.

I think the problem is that you could take just about any ride in the book and it would fit well into some sort of Haloween theme really easily. They can't have all the rides in one section, folks. ;)

Well isn't it the exact opposite? I thought 4th of July had the most rides of the 3 sections at HW.

That may be so. It just seems like Halloween is stuffed full with most of the E-Ticket rides already. Or A-ticket rides. The big ones, lol. You know what I mean.

Well true that there are two coasters in Halloween, but there are only 4 rides (Raven, Scarecrow Scrambler, Legend, HallowSwings). 4th of July has it's fair share of thrillers. (Round House, Liberty Launch, and come on Lewis and Clark's Trail is a definite E-ticket ;) )

E-ticket... don't confuse folks by calling thrill stuff A-ticket, as those tickets were pretty much useless. They may have gotten you into a gift shop.
