SFGAM Eagle Questions
Having ridden Eagle many times the last several years, one can’t help but notice that the (unused) queue is quite lengthy. I have never personally seen a line past the bridges. Questions: Given that wait times can be up to 20 minutes or so when the line is near the split for blue or red, how long were the wait times when the queue was used under the tent? Was 3-train operation per side ever in place? Was the tent space always devoted to concessions on the left and queue on the right? All of this points to time when Eagle was the premier attraction in the park.
Yes, when the ride first opened, waits typically exceded 2 hours and filled that tent. I do believe they ran three trains on each side back then too but I could be wrong. I just remember them e-stopping the ride all the time with the trains up at the top of the lift hill.

I only waited for the Eagle once when the line was in the tent... about 14 years ago. The wait was probably close to an hour, and the tent was only half-full.

the tent was originally for a circus show, but then an elephant escaped and they decided to use the tent for other purposes.
I've seen the line all the way out by the AE sign, but even then the switchbacks were always empty and that's only on really busy days. I think that the unused area could be used for a flat ride.
as for three train operation, I could have sworn that someone once said that Eagle was never meant to run three trains, but I honestly don't know.

SFGA Bob, I just noticed something- there is only one transfer track on each side. That means it wasn't designed for 3 trains, because on all other coasters with 3 trains, there are two-three transfer tracks. But, still, they did use 3 trains.
