A "Regular Joe's" Mission: Space experience.

My boss just returned from four fun-filled days at WDW. He had the chance to ride Mission: Space and shared his thoughts with me.

First, his stats: 49 year old male, married, 3 girls, non-enthusiast, last visit to WDW: 10 years plus.

He was taken aback by all of the pre-ride warnings. He said they actually made him more nervous than he probably needed to be.

The ride itself, he was very impressed with. Didn't feel like he was spinning in a circle, enjoyed the effects. Afterward, he said his wife was nauseous for about 1/2 hour. He said he felt nauseous about 1 1/2 hours afterward. They did eat bar-b-q 1 hour before riding. The three girls (19-25) did not feel sick.

I asked if he had followed all of the rules (head back, look straight ahead) and he said that he did.

I asked him if it was something he would ride again. He said, "probably not." The girls said they would like to ride it again.

I think that is going to be the issue with Space. Rerideability. Will this be a ride that will appeal over time or will it be a Body Wars, where everyone wants to try it once but many choose never to ride again? Time will tell.

We too just returned from WDW. I am a 40 yr old who loves coasters but not spinning rides. I was too very concerned about that aspect. Yet being enclosed in a small space with a screen right in front of you is more of an issue (not for me though). I did look around a little during the ride and could feel some spinning. I did however enjoy it and would ride again. I rode with my wife (37) brother-in-law (40) and my middle son (8). We all felt that little queasy feeling for about a half hour. We did however have kind of a big breakfast about 1 1/2 hours before the ride. I enjoyed the launch and boosters but did not feel the zero g feeling nor did anyone else.

Do you think it was better than than Spiderman at IOA or is that still the attraction to beat?

My opinion, It is definatly better than Spiderman.

And I will agree, it reallly does not feel like you are spining, unless you really focus on it.

Can anyone tell me how long the lines are. I am going in december, and just want a vague clue as to what to expect.

When we were there the lines were about 20 - 30 minutes. But I just suggest to fast pass it. Then you will breeze through the line like we did.

Did you notice if there was a single riders line?

Since everyone on the ride has a "job" to complete, I wonder what happens if there are empty seats... Does the computer fill in?

From what I've heard, the completion of the "jobs" does not change the outcome of the ride.

You're right Phantom, it doesn't change it at all.

There is a single riders line.

When I was there (first sneak peek) we waited for 3 1/2 hours.
