Refurbished Schwarzkopf Coasters

I was wondering, does anybody out there know what they do when they "Refurbished" a Schwarzkopf Coaster?

I don't have a clue what they do.

My guess is after the ride is dissassembled they go over the track and structure looking for cracks and flaws fixing what needs to be done. I imangine they also go over every single part as well including the motors, brakes, sensors, trains, basicly everything and replacing what is worn or looks bad. Everything probabble gets taken apart, cleaned, and repaired.

When they are done the park is probably getting an almost perfect ride.

I don't know about perfect, but it would probably just ride better.

I know that when they brought Zonga to SFMW, the first to loops were made larger to lessen the g-forces (which were over 6g's).

Well the Gs were reduced by an estimated 10%, that brings it down to the 5.9-6g range. The loops were not made bigger at all, they were just raised about 12 feet.

I know that they are refurbishing the old Greased Lightnin' , I wonder if they will make it taller faster or if any modifications are to be done to enhance the ride itself.

For the record, I think that Schwarzkopf coasters are some of the best on the planet. The MindBender at SFoG is a solid #2 on my top 5 coaster list.

Anyway, I know that SFoG was looking at refurbishing The Mind Bender some time ago and there was an awful lot of conern about it. This concern focused on the possibilty of replacing the loved lap bars with OTH restraints. Thank goodness they only repainted it into the god-ugly riddler paint scheme and left the restraints alone.

Dorney refurbished Laser with a new paint job and new trains straight from Schwartzkopf in Germany. O my what a difference new trains make.

I would imagine that refurbishment could include an entire rebuild of all of the mechanical bits, an overhaul/replacement of the rolling stock and repairs to any deficient sections of track. I don't think that refurbishment would include any serious modifications to the ride (such as increased height, more loops, etc.) unless absolutely needed, such as was the case with Zonga.
