Just got done reading a couple of articles talking about the batman and robin: the chiller roller coaster that got stuck for 20 mins upside down. I have sent it to news also(if its news).

20 mins only and there is about 3 or more articles on story.

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/ny-bc-nj--rollercoastermalf0726jul26,0,2318172.story?coll=ny-ap-regional-wire

and one for FL also(even though its the same story pretty funny it makes it as news there).

That's nothing. I've been stuck upwards of 45minutes on Roar West and over 30 on Superman the Escape (at the base of the tower.) It's really cool.

How funny that it makes it as news. What is the world coming to! ;)

But Roar and STE don't go upside down.

Allegedly in 1997, "the ride was closed for a year because riders were hitting their heads on the coaster's metal parts". Anyone know more about that? Unpadded OTSRs?

Article sez:

The coaster has a history of problems.

A week after The Chiller was introduced in 1997, the ride was closed for a year because riders were hitting their heads on the coaster's metal parts.

It was closed again in 1998 after passengers complained of neck and head pain.

Manufactured by Premier Rides of Maryland, the coaster is designed to launch riders from zero to 65 mph in less than five seconds.

It isn't, it was the Robin, or red side that got stuck. The Batman side may not run at all this year from the scuttlebutt I have heard.

..just like they reported Two Face being stuck upside down? I don't buy it.

Where does it say which side of the ride was stuck? I don't see it anywhere.

My guess, based on past experience, is that the Robin side valleyed in the cobra roll. Hardly unusual and hardly upside down.

I read elsewhere that it was the Robin side that vallied between the cobra roll and the zero-g roll.

"riders hitting their head on metal parts" Ok I have heard it all. If the ride was that bad im sure it would not be up anymore. I don't even think the ride was closed for only roughnest, but for bad LIMS etc. Same issue on Mr Freeze. Also it was the Robin (Red) side that got valleyed.

Yeah, the people who hit their heads off metal parts also had their head ripped off because their hair got stuck in the mechanics of a free fall ride. (Sorry, someone had to say it) ;)

Remember, this is 20 minutes upside down without OTSRs, since the y got rid of them. That would scare me. ;)

Okay, take a look at this picture: Chiller

See the little dip after the corkscrew and right before the incline with the LIMs? Tha's where the train got stuck. Only a portion of the train was upside-down. Other cars were at an angle or right side up.

It is more common for Robin to valley in the Cobra Roll, but it has gotten stuck in this position in the past, so it isn't completely out of the blue.

I live near SFA and none of the local press reported that the ride was stuck upside-down, although I wouldn't want to have been one of the people facing down when the ride got stuck. Imagine 2 hrs + hanging in an OTSR.

I thought they had changed the OSTR's to lap bars?
