That was in an email I received from Hersheypark tonight. What could the ride be called, or themed to I wonder? I guess we'll all have to wait until August 5th.

"Colossus Stampede", a western themed inverted rocket that is a joint venture from B&M and Intamin, with Vekoma trains, and Arrow Horsecollars. Oh, and instead of a hydrolic launch, they'll have a mix of LIM/LSMs and thrust air...;)

Stampede would be a good name for a Rocket Coaster. Doesn't Hershey have a Western themed area?

Frontiertown. I think Stampede would be a cheesy, re-used name.

don't they do the tomato festival thing in pamplona too? now that is what i'd like to see a coaster themed after, a street filled with tons of tomatoes, and hot chicks with white Tshirts...;) Ah, what a dream.

What if you can buy a bucket full of tomato fruit/vegetable hybrid monsters for $1 and get all waka waka waka on the riders from the sidelines?

The answer is there! Just remove the following words: stampede, something, big's, to, Hersheypark, 2004, round, up.

I was thinking a rollersoaker style ride, but with buckets full of tomatos instead of water.

Close... the name of the area is actually Pionier Frontier.

Anyway... Forget the rollersoaker style ride with buckets full of tomatos. Think of buckets of something more closely associated with a cattle stampeed... HINT: 1) the color of material in said buckets would fit in quiet nicely with Hershey's costumed chocolate characters and 2) there is a ready supply of this material available across the foot bridge in some of the "pastures" of Zoo America.

Problem with this is that the lines on Roller Soaker and Canyon River Rapids will be much longer. Right now people hit these two rides to cool off. With the opening of this new "experience", people will also be rushing to these two existing rides to rinse off.

------------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

It's a new coaster themed to the classic Activision Atari 2600 game "Stampede." Watch out for the stubborn Black Angus!
