Dragster rollback from 7-17-03

Just wanted to post a video of a rollback showing and hearing the crowd's and rider's reaction.

Not only was that the best rollback I have ever seen, but the crowd screaming as if people were being murdered is just hilarious! Awesome video :)

I could not believe the things I heard from people in line as they read the warning on the signs about rollbacks. I heard, "I sure hope that's a joke" several times. What do people think is going to happen? Can't they see the brakes popping up behind the train as it passes?!?

Um, I don't think most 'normal' people (the GP) would know that those metal fins popping up are brakes... Let's not get snobby and act like everyone should know that... ;)

Den, you expect people who ask questions like "Does this thing go upside down?" when the entire layout of the ride is visable from the queue to be able to A: Notice the fins popping up, B: Figure out those are brake fins and C: Not think something is terribly wrong when a coaster rolls back?

Considering most non-enthusiasts refer to coasters by their incorrect names or as "the green one" or as "the really loopy one," thinking that they could figure out the brake fins on TTD is laughable.

7-17 was my first trip to CP this year (TR later) and it was crazy how many times it rolled back. It opened right as the park did in the morning and did fine but then went down for a long period of time. Then when it eventually reopened it rolled back emtpy and full. For a period of time you had about a one in four chance of getting a roll back because it would only get about four launched before it would roll back again. The ones that would make it over crawled over. It got to a point where everytime a train launced the whole que would stop what they were doing, get quiet and just stare at it to see if it was going to make it. I give CP a lot of credit. They could have easily closed the ride down after a few rollbacks but instead they just kept launching trains. I bet there was more than 10 rollbacks yesterday.

I still can't get it to load. How do you play it?

I just played the video and it seemed more like cheering then crys of horror to me. Just my observation...

When a rollback happened while I was in line on the 16th, everyone seemed to yell out in pain. Once some trains made it over the top, people were cheering quite loudly every time it happened. Riding Dragster seems to be quite an emotional experience.

Track Record (probably incomplete)

To me it looks like the riders were pleased with their ride. At first people started to scream in horror but then were cheering and clapping. And The riders were cheering and clapping too! Oh how I wish I were on that train! This is a funny video and is defininetely worth showing non-enthusiasts like all of my family!
