What happens when Xcelerator or TTD have a Rollbac

Just out of curiosity, what happens when the Intamin Rockets have a rollback. Do they bring the train all the way back to the station? Do they have provisions to unload the passengers infront of the station? Or do they just re-launch it?

I was at CP on Wednesday and in line for TTD when it had a rollback. After it hit the breaks and rolled back into the station they unloaded the riders and did 4 test runs. Then they loaded people back on a continued to run smoothly without any majoy breakdowns.

At least at Xcelerator, if it rolls back, it won't just test immediately. The ride will need to be reset, which takes about 15 minutes. If all goes well, it will reopen after that.

And yeah, it rolls back to the station VERY slowly...

You mean if the Dragster train is 310 feet in the air and it does not have enough thrust to make it over the peak, the train coasts back to the station slowly? I would not want to be on the train 310 feet 90 degrees straight up if or when that happens. I wonder how the ride electronics determine how much push to give the train? Each total weight of the car is different because people's weight varies. You cannot over launch the train becasue you would create to much stress on the bottom rollers of the car as it fights to negotiate the peak and head back down the other side. Even if they have trim breaks at the top, it still must be tricky to get the speed right. I hope the maintenance personnel have a good nights rest every night before they inspect the dragster. Time for my 410 foot inspect of the track.... Of course their answer is to put short seat belts in the cars and do not worry about the height of our thrill rides I suppose after all 90 degrees straight up and down is still not quite the angle we were shooting for.

Why should it take 15 minutes to restart? Isn't this supposed to be modern technology? Maybe they should change the computers to UNIX.

It has nothing to do with the technology, it has to do with making various checks to make sure that the ride isn't malfunctioning. (And the Unix comment is stupid and irrelevant, I might add.)

The speed of the train is the same regardless of how much weight is on board. Most likely the measurments taken prior to launch determine how much power you need to give the motors in order to accelerate the train to 120 mph within the length of the launch track. Given this it would be impossible to launch a train too fast. But variables such as wind speed, tempurature, and the mechanical nature of the ride means it's quite probable that you won't make it over the top... that's one malfunction I would very much like to experience some day. :)
