Arrow Train Retrofits

Now that S&S owns arrow why don't they try some train retro fits using the air filled tires instead of the teflon ones they use now in an effort to soften the ride(similar to S&s's wheel setup on TA2K). I also think S&S should also toy around with creating arrow stand up trains similar to those on togo stand ups(more comfortable of course).

When did they start making tires of the stuff they use to line frying pans? Arrow standup trains. What kind of drugs are you taking?

If you have a problem with clones, the solution is real simple—Stop traveling.

1.) the wheels are not teflon, but the train would not be able to have the aircraft tires unless the main body of the train where to be raised to allow space for the tires, which would effect the g forces.

2.) Arrow did make stand-up trains for one coaster, they didn't work out and they were taken off. Also, the coaster would have to be designed to accomodiate the raised heartline level.

I think Arrow made stand-up trains for two Missouri coasters in the mid-eighties. One of the River King Mine Rides at SF St. Louis ran as Rail Blazer with stand-up trains until it a fatality closed it. Worlds of Fun turned Screamroller, a standard Arrow corkscrew, into Extremeroller, with custom stand-up coaches. Has anyone here ridden either of these?

I think air-filled tires might create too much friction to work on a ride designed with solid wheels. Arrow's wheels are made from either nylon or polyurethane...I can't remember which.

Well, Rail Blazer didnt close, what they had done is had a racing mine train (River King Mine Train) and in 1984 retrofitted the Stand Up trains, but those failed miserably, and they took em off at the end of 84

the friction would build up and create problems with wheel replacement, which would cause it to be about 3 (or most likely more!) times as much as a normal polyurethane wheel. I do think it is impossible to do a transition like this..

The demand for standups seems to have died down as well. Why should S&S Arrow spend money on a gimmick that seems to have ran it's course?

I think Arrow should offer retro fit OTSR like the ones found on S&S's OTSR found on Sky Swatter/ Screaming Squirel.

1) The rolling friction on air filled tires is greater than the standard urethane or nylon tired wheels. The coaster wouldn't make it around.

2) The current rails on Arrows are round tubes. S&S's air filled tire technology requires flat topped rails. A round rail would result in greater tire deflection resulting in even more friction and possible tire failure.

3) A restraint conversion of the type that Premier has been doing would be cheaper and more practical. It is also very effective.
