Dale Earnhardt killed in crash

The sports world has definitely lost a legend. He was to Nascar what Micheal Jordon is to basketball. Its a shame.

Well, I don't generally watch racing, but this was a big surprise to me. I really was in shock. It is just very weird when a famous name has died. I had the same feeling a few years ago when I heard about the death of my favorite actor, Chris Farley. That was even worse though. Dale Earnhardt, may he rest in peace.

After watching the race, I knew something was gonna go wrong. I was never a Dale Earnhardt fan, but I sure was shocked to hear the news. He was a legend and he is gonna be missed.

I've never been a major Dale Earnhardt fan, but when I got home last night from Toronto (a school trip), my dad told me in the parking lot, I could'nt belive it. He was a great racer, and he was great for the sport, he will be missed greatly.

He died because of the rapid deceleration, those kind of accidents can't be predicted or prevented, NASCAR however is still the safest type of motorsports, look at Tony Stewart.

Anyways, RIP Dale, we'll miss you.

he was always my favorite nascar driver. We have a couple diehard earnhardt fans in my family. I was shocked when i heard the news yesterday. Im sure he will be greatly missed.

Dont forget that Dales Car had Ken Schraders #36 pushing kinda behind him. Im not sure how much it added to the force of impact, but i'll bet it was some.

I still can't believe this happened. I think they should name the Winston Cup trophy after him.

I was in daytona this week. There is such enthusiasm for that event. Crowds and fans were all over the Orlando area, and of course, they were in Daytona. I was back home Sunday and was watching the race at the time. Its still hard to believe that this happened. I am glad I had a number 3 on my back window for years.

MFR: That was Sterling Marlin's Dodge, and those two had been going at it since the cation was taken off on lap 15.

Also, yes, Marlin did hit him, but the bigger blow was (after he tried to regain and get onto the track) he WAS hit by Schrader's 36, and that sent him head first into the wall, instead of either bouncing off the side, or even recovering fully.

On ESPN they said if you crash into a concrete wall at 190 MPH and go to 0 you pull about 200 g's

You guys sound like your blaming people for his death. We shouldnt point fingers or toss names around. It was a freak accedent!

NASCAR is getting more tragic every year. Last year Kenny Irwin and Adam Petty both died on the same track on the same turn but during different races. And now Earnhardt dies on the last lap right behind two cars he owns including his son.

I've been a NASCAR/Racing fan all my life and I have been to Michigan watching him and even watched him win at the 1995 Brickyard 400, and he is an awesome driver.

NASCAR will never be the same.
