As for non-CP things to do I think Put-In-Bay is a great option. You can catch a ferry from Sandusky or from Port Clinton. The cheapest ferry (and the one which lets you take your car across) is on Catawba Island. The drive over to Catawba is nice as is the island itself. Once on Put-In-Bay there are many restaruants and bars to see - can get a little crazy there at night.
