Wyandot Lake?

I was just wondering if Wyandot lake will ever become Six Flags Columbus?

Wyandot is super small compared to all the other Six Flags owned parks. It is basicly comparing SFKK to Cedar point in size. Wyandot may have a dozen rides Including the Sea Dragon coaster similar to Beastie at PKI and Scooby Doo at PKD. Then they also have the water park.

I'd have to guess no unless they start a major expansion to draw more people. It could be a nice place to visit for the day though. The Columbus zoo is right next to the park. Doing both could be a fun day.

When we visited we only had an hour or so to hit Wyandot. We were driving from CP to PKI. We had plenty of time do do everything we wanted in that hour.

Not Too Shabby For A Summer

For most of it's life Wyandot Lake was known as Gooding's Zoo Amusements. The late Floyd Gooding operated one of the largest carnival companies in the U.S. His winter quarters were in Columbus. Floyd was the son of an Ohio farmer,and while other shows would go to Florida for the winter,he stayed "home". He passed away during the winter of 1973-74. His heirs were not interested in continuing in the business and it was liquidated.
I believe the land the park is on is leased form the Zoo. Therefore there is little chance of Wyandot growing past it's present boundries.

I have a toothpaste box from last fall with like a season pass coupon or something like that, I think it's from Aquafresh, they do call the park Six Flags Wyandot Lake in thier little listing of parks.

Wyandot Lake's property is owned by the City of Columbus, along with a lot of as-yet-undeveloped land up there near Wyandot. Mostly it is banked for future Zoo expansion, but supposedly Six Flags has got an agreement to lease additional acreage for Wyandot Lake. Such an expansion would invade the present Safari Golf Course (also owned by the City) to the South of the park, and clear of any potential Zoo expansion (most of the Zoo is actually located on the other side of OH-257 anyway).
As the local puppy-trainer described it last year, the plan is to move the entrance to both Wyandot Lake and the Columbus Zoo to a location just South of the park. I presume this refers to the parking lot entrance...if they move that entrance to where the golf course entrance is now, then it will line up nicely with the traffic signal they installed for the Glick Rd. bridge a year or two ago (that is a dam bridge, not to be confused with the similarly named construction at SFKK).
What I keep hearing from Wyandot Lake people is that a major expansion is coming "next year" but as of yet "next year" hasn't come yet. :(
