Thrill Ride Sponsership.

I have seen "this ride is sponsored by" signs several places before but I never really knew what exactly why a corporations sponsored a coaster/thrill ride and how much they pay for a new attraction. Batman TR @ SFGAm is sponsered by Duracell, Demon is sponsered by Stridex, Shockwave was sponsered by Pringals. How does a corporation sponser a ride? Have they ever payed for the entire ride? Do parks usually accept the highest bidder, and why are not all coasters/rides sponsered? Oh, are there sponserships that pay for maintenance etc. for an alloted number of years and is that why other rides change or get a sponsorship like Ice Mountain Splash @ SFGAm that I haven't seen operate since Ice Mountain water sponsered the ride. Sorry everything is kind of confused and disorganized, but if you can answer any of these questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking the corporation sponsors the ride or show to pay for it's maintenance/operation. I believe Batman was once sponsored by a local radio station and Coca Cola one year as well.

It's no different than selling signage or even naming rights in sports stadiums. Basically the highest bidder pays to have their name on the ride.

How about Iron Wolf sponsored by Viagra because that is the only way you will be able to get it up after riding the Wolf!!!

Depends adult undergarments took notice of the fact that Dragster lines were so long CP was handing out bathroom passes. They decided to pay for ride sponsorship. Their slogan:

"If you don't need us in line you'll need us on the launch!"

Sponsorship is a simple concept. By allowing an attraction to be sponsored, the park creates additional revenue by charging the sponsor to plaster their name all over the ride. The sponsor does this because it is good exposure. A full que of people getting their products name drilled into their brains. Some parks do this, some dont. Really it just depends on whether or not the park wants to do it. Having sponsors certainly takes away from the "family" park atmosphere, instead creating a "money, money, money" environment.

Pepsi paid Blackpool Pleasure Beach a million pounds (alledgedly 12% of the total cost) for the sponsorship of the BIG ONE, which became the PEPSI MAX BIG ONE for at least a year. I don´t know if the ride still has the suffix, but I think it was a clever way to promote the brand name by making it part of the ride name.

Is Goodyear sponsoring TTD in any way? I saw the label on the fake tires.

Real drag tires?! Thats amazing. Those things are quite heavy. I really thought they must be fake. But its just a two person car, so it will compensate the weight.

ah the Irn Bru Revolution at BPPB still has it;s huge Irn Bru sign and the voice over the loudspeaker going ' Lets see what the Irn Bru Revolution can do for you...' And yea, It is still the Pepsi Max Big one i believe, they still have the huge pepsi can which the train goes through before the start of the lift.
