Are all SLC the same?

Is there a SLC that is different then the rest? I like em and I just wondered if there was a different style anywhere.

There's one in Brunei that is a little differant....can't remember the name right now.

The Mind Eraser at SFNE is smoother and better than the Mind Eraser's of Darien Lake and SFAmerica. I think SFNE has taken better care of their SLC and that's why it's smoother, but don't get me wrong, it's no B&M!

The SLCs that are being built now are already the third generation. This means that Vekoma changed and altered minute details in the transitions to smooth out the ride. The Prototype at SFHolland (built in 92 or93) is still a bonecracking nightmare. The newer versions are a little better, but still far from perfection. There is as well an extended design offered by Vekoma which features a helix before the brakerun. One of those is located in Italy (Gardaland).
The SLC at Moreys Pier is the only one to feature an original layout, cause the ride was built around existing rides to fit in the limited Pier space.
Mind you, compared to the unimaginative layout and the shaky ride, its unbelievable that the SLC is one of the most built coasters in the world. They must come really cheap!

Lethal Weapon at Movieworld Australia has the helix before the brake run. Vekoma call it the Bayern Curve. Yeah, some headbanging as you enter the Double Roll. Built in 1995, probably 2nd Generation. I saw they added extra padding to the OTSRs for obvious reasons.

Fantasy Island in the UK? Is meant to get a Hyper SLC. Rumored to be 265ft tall with a 200ft+ Loop! Most people say it will be a headbanger. Well, only opens in '02 so hopefully Vekoma are taking their time to perfect it.

We get a SLC in germanies Movie World for this season. What a disappointment, while hearing that Movie World Madrid will alledgedly get two different B&Ms.
Movie World germany is so nasty, that i almost bet we get a used first generation SLC.
Put those helmets on before you ride, guys!

If you got to cobraroll2k they have a features section about SLC's there is a couple with helixes near there the end in stead of a straight away.

I know Jazzland will be getting a new SLC this season. tricktrack, you mention this will be a "3rd generation" SLC. So with any luck, will it be as smooth as an SLC can get?

I doubt it'll (the SLC @ Movie World in Germany)be used and most people love how smooth the SLCs the first couple of years. So this year and next it should be pretty decent.

The only real original is SLC is Pusing Lagi, which is what Krazy was talking about. The Great Nor' Easter is just very slightly modified due to space problems, hardly enough to be considerd original...

many are clones, but there are some that are slightly different for various reasons. Site restrictions, park requests, new ideas from vekoma.....

Yea, most of the time (as with the Great Nor'Easter) the only noticable change from one SLC to another is the fact that the Great Nor'Easter's station does not lead straight into the lift, but there is a short 90 degree right turn.

About roughness, the newer are better than the older, that's for sure. But it is still up to the park to ensure the smoothness. Some say that with the addition of new padding, what WAS the smoothest SLC (Serial Thriller, SFO) is now just one of the pack of hang-n-bangers.

SFO'S Serial Thriller went from the smoothest Vekoma ever made, to bone-jarring rough.

Serial Thriller at SFO is about 15-20 feet taller than the rest.

Technically, the GNE at Morey's is a custom ride, according to the Vekoma website. It is spralled out more compared to the others, and the lift is 115'9", somewhat taller than the other SLC's.

by what 9"? From the stats all of the SLC are 115'.

The former Geauga Lake was originaly going to construct a 7 inversion SLC, but for some reason it fell through
