How Long until we Break 400ft

It seems that the giga coasters boom(It was a boom sincethey cost so much and they opened so close to each other) has stoped dead. Only two parks in the whole world have them. Unlike Hyper coasters who had a big boom in their 2nd year, Giga's arent popping up all over the place like i hoped. So my questions is how long will it take to break 400ft if it took ten 11 years to break 300ft *** This post was edited by Flds on 2/11/2001. ***

That is hard to say, its really a matter of how long it takes for a bunch of parks to get gigas. I mean, MF wasn't built until a whole lot of parks around the world had hypers, so MF was something which set CP apart from the rest, just like magnum did earlier. So really, until we see a substantial amount of parks with gigas, which may take a while due to the cost, it may be a good while until any park sees the need to have a 400footer-but if i had to guess i'd say 15-20 years

Gee, I never knew that there was a giga coaster boom. Just because two giga coasters went up, does not mean that there is a boom. There never was a boom. Anyways, I think it will be a long time until we see anything in the 400 ft. range. Honestly, I think it could easily be another 2-3 years before we see another giga. The GP is plenty satisfied with sweet B&M inverteds and new crazy new prototypes that are much cheaper than gigas.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven

Not only is the cost an issue, but think about this- not many parks with the money have enough money to build a 400 ft coaster (Nano-Coaster?:)), have enough space to create one. Think about how long the pull-out will have to be to avoid pulling like 7 Gs! I think it'll be at least 20 yrs.

Wheres Los Vegas?

Not only are we talking about the cost of the ride, the amount of space needed for a ride of this type must be taken into consideration. It becomes a juggling act of where to put it without sacrificing other attractions. Remember with any good park a balance must be kept in order to keep the GP coming.

Um, are we are talking 400 foot full circut coasters? We all know that 400+ feet can be done because of S:TE. Making it full circut is just a matter of money.

There are tons of hypers poping up all over the p;ace that are around 250 feet, how much more does another 50 feet cost?

I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Not only is cost a problem, but also a lot of park have a height limit. Gurnee won't let SFGAm build anything over 300ft for example.

not only is it a money issue,but a lot of parks have zoning laws that permit them to build only up to certin heights.also some parks just dont have the room.

My guess is that it'll be a while. The GP still likes hypers, and gigas are really expensive. Also, imagine the amount of stress on the track a train travelling at 100+ mph would cause.

So few parks have the zoning, space and money to invest in such a large investment to get a ROI, so coasters all that high will be very few and far between.

In say, 10 years, if a park wanted to install a M. Force style 400 footer, they would have to shell out close to $50+ mill as well as get a lot of zoning approvals, aircraft warning lights, and plenty of space to clear for the thing...
