Any B&M Duds

I have ridden quite a few B&M coasters and they are my favorites, always smooth (for the most part)and just great rides. B&M is are my favorite designers. With Intamin a close second. My question is has any body in their opinion riden a not so great B&M?

B&M is a very good manufacturing company. The worst would have to be Batman Knight Flight at SFWoA but that is still a pretty good ride it just didn't meet all the hype about the Floorless coasters, I prefer Medusa East and West much more.

Well I think the iron Wolf is rough. Of course that was B&M's first stand-up coaster(or their first coaster, I forogt)

Ive never ridden a rough B&M but Ive heard that Chang is riding rough these days.
If I had anything negative to say about B&M is that the elements are too predictable Eg. Most B&M Inverts start with a vertical loop etc. In fact many sites have commented that what sets Alpengeist apart from most B&M Inverts is that it starts with a Immelman into a vertical loop ...

As far as roughness goes, I don't think a B&M could ever get as rough as Psyclone or Flashback at SFMM or WindJammer was at KBF! Regardless I've loved all the B&M's I've been on and look forward to riding more of there creations in the future!

The Vortex at Carowinds didn't age very well. It's still a good ride, but quite a bit rougher that when it first opened in the early 90's.

I don't want to start a big arguement here, but I thought that ride was awesome! Maybe you should ride the coaster before you judge it.

So the question turned into bad B&M creations to rough to bad aging coasters. In my opinion I feel that the first generation Stand-Ups from B&M are probably my least favorite coasters, as far as B&M is concerned.

Great Bear wasn't all that thrilling. An EXTREMELY short ride time, and lots of dead time.

Batman Knight Flight blows Medusa away!!!!!!!!

Kraken at Sea World Orlando wasn't that great. The first half reminded me a lot of Kumba. But after the mid-course it gets boring fast.

The only B&M dud I have ever been on is Vortex at PGA. It has a lot of headbanging which I suspect is from being so old. It is also too short and small. Every other B&M I have been on is great!

No I have not been on a B&M dud. Standups are going to be a little bit rough. You might as well expect it when you ride it. Also on Iron Wolf/Chang/Vortex i think a simple answer would solve there problems, new trains.

Not really... they don't manufacture anything. They're an engineering and design firm. Someone else actually manufactures the stuff.

That said, Batman at SFO kind of left me a little disappointed. I didn't dislike it, it just didn't "wow" me like I thought it would. I guess the whole floorless thing was way over hyped before I got to ride it.

I still maintain that there's no such thing as a "rough" B&M, but different strokes, I suppose.

I doubt I'll ever know exactly what went wrong with Batman, but it was the right timing. I was so looking forward to the floorless trains, I was dissapointed by the ride. Then because I was dissapointed by Batman and Medusa east, Medusa west completely blew me away. If anyone wants a truely amazing B&M, head to SFMW.

I don't believe B&M makes any duds. Maybe certain parks neglect their rides, but if you look at every coaster B&M designed, they were far from duds in their first season.

Maybe it's just me, but I find a very hard time to notice a "bad" coaster. The only ride I could really call a dud is Raging Wolf Bobs at SFWoA.

Iron Wolf may not be 'rough' per se, but it headbangs like a young Muhammad Ali.

Also, remember, Bolliger and Mabilliard are responsible for the travesty known as 'Flashback', even though Intamin built it.

I believe any B&M is a great coaster, just some are much better than others. Batman Knight Flight didn't exacly wow me, but then again I really liked a few of the non-inversion parts (the "turn" and the drop of the mid-course were excellent). All B&M's are really popular with the GP because of their smoothness and acrobatics. If I had to name a dud, I suppose I would say BKF (which is STILL a great ride), and although I've never ridden any of it, maybe Great Bear too from what I've heard others say (Once again, I'm sure its a good ride). Looking at its design, Iron Wolf actually looks really thrilling. I suppose it might be a little rough, though.

I want tp say Mantis its good and all, but very thrilling to me and my legs always fall asleep on it. Since its painful to me, and not very thrilling my choice is Mantis all the way.

BKF is one of my fav B&Ms. The reason being its not the same inversion after inversion lay-out. Its different and the tight turns and overbanked turns make this my fav.

Batman at SFO is a great ride. The ride features three awesome elements, none of which are inversions.

It features 'the turn' after the massive loop, the airtime in the backseat off the block brakes, and the tight helix after the flat spins.

SFO neglected the ride a bit, so it was rough at times during the season.

If SFO, excuse me, SFWoA had a huge amount of space, then we could have gotten a ride as large as Medusa. But, we where stuck with a rather small tract of land, so I'm very happy with the results that we got.

Yeah, doesn't BKF have the biggest loop in the world? Surely they could've built over the lake like with IOA's Hulk?
