I've ridden the one at Old Town, and I'm kinda surprised there aren't more of these around. It's a really good ride in a compact footprint, nice forces, decent trains, etc. That *drop* off the midcourse WILL catch you off guard...;)

I believe that several manufactures have made the Windstrom model through the years.
Rode the one at Old Town in November and really enjoyed it. The Windstorm at Branson USA was very rough. Celebration City has been working on it though and noticed some new track pieces on it so it should hopefully be alot smoother.

I haven't ridden Zamperla's version of that unbeliveble steep twisted drop yet but the one on Jetline is the highlight of the coaster.

The Windstorm at the Seattle Center is amazing. Very tight and very smooth. That drop out of the midcourse is indeed awe-inspiring, and yes, thank Schwartzkopf! It is very similar to the Bavarian Mountain Railroad he built, and I rode in Kobe, Japan. I love how you come flying into the brake run, and your eyes are all GOOGLY! ;)

Not sure if it's the same Windstorm model you're talking about, but I've had the pleasure of riding the Windstorm-model Hurricane at Long Island's Adventureland fifty straight times. Excellent coaster for a small park like that. Gotta love that drop.

Ah, Nasai, BMX as it's called now is a near clone of Jetline. The difference is the first drop and the way back from the u-turn. A wonderfull coaster don't you think? BMX has a very cool looking theming, would be nice to try it sometime...

I loved it in Kobe. I know there are a few of them around the world, but it was quite the ride. Coaster/Dark ride....:) Very cool, and the "drop" after the midcourse? What midcourse? You don't slow down... just BAM! Very very nice... ah, Portopialand. Bring me home!

The original Winstorm was designd by SDC. When SDC broke up, they sold the Windstorm rights to Zamperla and S&MC. Premier Rides also had the design for awhile, but I do not know if they still claim it.

However you spell it, they're all Herr Stengel designs.

Rob - Too bad I didn't show you the video of Windstorm I took this summer! Mike, Jeff and I went to the Seattle Center the day before (or was it after?) I met up with you. We rode twice, and we didn't get to experience "the drop" to its fullest extent until our second ride. You have to see the video, its hilarious! I've never heard a grown man scream more than those two did that day!! :)

I miss Seattle :(

I heard Jim Seay from Premier Rides got quite upset when it was said that Runaway Mountain was just a Windstorm inside. That one drop matches up, but I don't think the rest of the ride does from my memory.

Runaway Mountain is simply a mirror-image of the regular Windstorms.

I rode the one at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk called Hurricane. Not a bad little ride, and yes, that wicked turn off the mid-course is the highlight of the ride.

X Factor

Really, I find the one at SCBB to be so rough I can't get more than one ride without feeling like a scrambled egg. I hate it with a passion, but that is just me. It sounds like maybe theirs is just a little more rough than the other Windstorms?

I don't care if it's a mirror image, it ruled! That drop in the dark is quite scary, and the trains are quite comfy. I would love to see another Runaway Mountain, hmmm....perhaps at my homepark SFA. It blows Mayan Mindbender and Skull Mountain out of the water.

To tell you the truth, I rank the drop right after the midcourse brakes as one of my favorites. Talk about surprising and fun? The one at Old Town I found to be a little painful, but it was still fun nonetheless.
