Six Flags Theming

Sir Lancelot

Well I have only been to really three or four Six Flags parks. But Gotham City at SFMM is pretty cool I guess.

For me, best SF theming had to be SFOG Viper theming, it was definitely a step above the rest of the park IMO.

I always thought it was SF rule NOT to theme....

Southwest Territory has concrete on the ground, yes (better than the blacktop everywhere else) but what do you expect? The whole plaza/architecture fits the area wonderfully (wild west storefronts, Spanish mission, etc). The area would look like absolute crap with huge trees everywhere - it's supposed to be the South West! The park does a great job of landscaping with tall and authentic grasses, and there's plenty of shade around the queues (RB is covered, Viper has trees). It really seems they couldn't have done it right for you.

What kind of on-ride theming can you put on a wooden coaster? What kind of on-ride theming would fit the Southwest thing (besides the random wagons, wheels, etc that are already there)?

The jungle theme that was been carried on throughout SFMW is pretty snazy. Considering that most of the landscaping had to be done from the ground up and not by mother nature.

Moosh, the only real themed areas of Six Flags Mexico were added by Six Flags to begin with. The park really had nothing going for it before except for a handful of unique flats, it's location, and the food. Before... I would hardly classify it as a theme park.

Vertigo - true, the Hollywood, Bugs Bunny, and Batman areas of SFM are new/rethemed by SF but the rest of the park was themed by Reino Aventura.

I have only been to two SF parks and SFNE has the best theming but out of the 6 parks iv been to it also has the best theming. I think that the parks theming is amazing and the entrance gate looks great.

Of the SF parks I've been to SFNE wins hands down. The Crack Axle Canyon section of the park is very detailed and makes you feel like your in the wild west. Another area of good theming is SFNE's Superhero section of the park; the only problem with this section is that Batman isn't located in this area along with his nemesises(sp?) Joker and Poison Ivy. SFNE also has the most elaborately themed SF attraction I have been on, Blizzard River. During the whole ride the rapids are shrouded by a cloud of mist making several spots of the ride a surprise. There is also several detailed builing you travel through and giant penguins watch over the river! It truly is the best themed SF ride I have evr been on.

The facade on the shuttle loop is half hearted at best (i must restarin myself from vulgar language). Either the company just themes the front of the building, or doesn't completely theme the area. For example, if you're going to theme a coaster for some medieval idea, then make sure the grounds around the ride look to fit in with the theme. Or like in Gotham at WOA, what a mess.

Also, while pleasant to the eye, i fail to see how the Holland Gate is themed. Perhaps i'm missing something.

Finally, despite my critical nature toward SF and their abysmal theming; nice pics.

Isn't that spinning globe in front of SFH's entrance a Universal-type thing? Just looks like the big one in Orlando just in bronze and without the letters.

If you theme it sould be around the the entire building. Not jsut the front. I also think that the themeing should also be included in the midway. While the rides have some good detail, it isn't complete and the rest of the area doesn't even look like an industrial area.

But again it's a great pic.

The park is located in a valley (mini Hollywood :p) and many people live in the streets and hills that surround the park. The complained, thus SF decided to enclose the station/launch/loop.

However, I enjoyed watching the construction of the building, because SF made it look very good.
I don't know if you have ever visited the park, but walking past the huge building is special. And there is a very good industrial/flashback feeling in that area. Between those two rides (flume and shuttle loop) there's also a small dinnerplace in the same style.
