PKD's Drop Zone, Gyro-Drop????

Shaggy....does that decision....*not to turn* have anything to do with the Acrophobia situation....for those not yet aware, when Acro came back after the lightning strike, the rotation thingy didn't work properly.....just wondering if this is somehow connected....and a *little* bummed.....

Batwing, there really isn't a capacity problem since it only cuts out three or four people per ride. Plus, seeing how the ride is still operational the PLC must not be fried but just altered...... so there would be no reason for the park to replace anything as long as the ride still runs and is deemed safe.

I do not know specifics on why the PKD version will not turn, I was just told that it wouldn't.

Either way it looks like PKD has got a big winner on their hands & who know's just what 04 might hold in store,a new coaster perhaps?

I am looking forward to Drop Zone......especially since the only thing close to it that I have ever been on is Dr. Doom's Fear Fall.

Sorry, my smarta$$ quota for the day was seriously low, and I was in jeopardy of having *something bad* happen...

I think that adding the extra seats and taking out the motor would balance out the weight. That's my theory on why it wouldn't spin. Assuming that the motor is on the seats. Honestly it could or could not be that, but it seemed like a good guess!

When they say its 305' feet tall with a 272 ft freefall they are implying that the TOWER ITSELF is 305' tall, and the big hunk of stuff at the top is 33' tall. So you actually drop 272' including brakes.

On topic, what is the estimated duration of time it takes to get to the top of Drop Zone from the ground? (How fast is it moving.)

Just confirming HelixSpiral's claim. Second to the last day of operation, all seats were being used, until one of the cables gave out and shut it down for the rest of that day and the final day.
