I think they mean Faller, ive heard of Faller models but I have never heard of Fahler models. Faller models are pretty expensive though and if you plan on buying one I suggest looking for it on E-bay first, you can get them off E-bay for almost half the price sometimes.

There is the Yahoo ridemodelers group if you're interested in model discussion. A good portion of the discussion seems to revolve around the Faller kits.

And if you're interested in some of the best and highest quality model flats (and don't mind waiting 2 years and spending $400 or so) check this out. :)

You can also search for "midway" and "coaster" on the walthers site, which should bring up some additional models including a wild mouse and a topspin, not to mention a variety of food and game stalls.

Nice work on the model Wolgamuth. That is a really good model. I've been wanting to build a model of my own but I keep getting too lazy. I still gotta finish designing it.

It is indeed Faller. Sorry about the typing error. And the Walther catalogue is a good source.

Very interesting. Are you working off blueprints or just making it up as you go along?

I just checked out that Cummons website one of you listed. It's amazing ! That guy has a real gift. $400 is a bit much to pay for one model, especially if you wanted to assemble a whole amusement park. But I'd love to see a display of his whole line --- an entire working amusement park.

CoasterDude316: how did u make your crossties? Very nice. Reminds me of the Arrow loop & corkscrew coasters, except for the Shockwave-ish drop! How many loops are you planning on? Good choice on that tubing. It works well as long as the ties are kept that close together. I like the Free Fall too. Can't go wrong with FALLER rides!

Model coasters and rides

Mamoosh - anytime you get to the area you have to drop in and see Karen and I.

Ophthodoc - I drew the lift hill and first drop on ESRI ArcView software which is for making maps but I cheat and use it kind of like you would a CAD program. I have yet to draw out the rest of the coaster.

I once started to build a woodie model, but it never seemed to work out for me! mainly because of space and no job for supplies. It is a fun thing to get involved with and yet sometimes makes you want to pull your hair out! I would love to be able and spen the needed money and time to build one of these things but its just not in the books or me right now. On the other hand everyone who is going for this, GOOD LUCK!! i do not mean that it is going to be a hard deal and all, but it is frustrating!

Arrow Guy: I used G.C. Brewers method of molding out crossties out of a polyurethane resign. The track and spine are made out of some tubing I got at Menards for like $5 for 100ft. and its very flexiable.

Im glad you thought Shockwave when you saw the first drop, thats what I was hopeing to achive. I only plan on having 1 loop, a turn and a helix, and if I can figure out how to make a train articulated enough to go through the course, it will be a working model.

I use the Knex rollercoaster. I have made a 6 looper with 4 sets. Its easy to use but you need a lot of it to make anything other than the one in the instructions.

I've been using the Knex too. But unfortunately i only have one set, but I am saving up for more. I do get pretty far with the one I have now. I've had it since X-mas and I've made 5 different layouts so far. But not all of them have worked perfectly. I'll be putting up pictures online as soon as i register to one of those websites that you can put pictures on.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

My wife Karen puts up with alot of things due to my coaster hobby. For instance this past sunday I was using up all of her kitchen counter space working on the lift hill. Usually it occupies a corner of our living room as my upstairs workroom is too cold to work in right now plus it is full of rc airplanes and model trains. The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys, as the old saying goes.
