Question about ride opiing

I'd love to be a ride op when I'm in college during the summer. What are the exact ages you have to be to run the rides? What are the different levels of operation? Like isn't it possible that you won't even get to work controls unless you are a certain age?

At CP it's 18, I don't know about controlling it though and don't know about any other parks.

I was only 17, and I got to operate a rollercoaster and a major flat ride...

Different states have various laws, such as in Ohio you have to be 16, but Cedar Point for example requires you to be 18.

To answer your question, I think 16-18 years is the norm for most states. At the park I work at, you can run the kiddieland rides when you are 16 but have to be 17 to run major rides.

Thanks! I'd like to enjoy them well I still can but unfortunately I still live 3 hours away from SF Darien Lake. I really like it there but its just hard to get a ride out there in the summer.

Lets see, When I was 12 back in '81 I ride oped everything at Strickers Grove till mid season then the state said you had to be thirteen and I was put in the concession booth or game room (Skeeball).

The next season I once again ride oped everything including the newly pnumatic equiped brakes on the old defunct herschell kiddie coaster. (Man was that bar hard to pull)

Since that time Ohio's is 16 for ops.
